So I've been struggling to think up a character name. I've been brainstorming and testing different names for around 2 hours. I need to think up a name by next Friday.
If you can help me think up a name for this character of mine, it would be much appreciated. I also have some names I'd like critique on. Does it fit my character? Does it flow nicely? Is it too cliche? I've never played D&D before, so I'm not sure if there are names that are too trope-y haha. Thanks!
Here is my Character Info.
High Elf Wizard
Chaotic Good
Personality: Not a very serious person, sarcastic, might hang back in a battle if I don't think the outcome is worth death. I tend to steal things occasionally. Independent; Likes to do what he wants and take a break from people from time to time. Thinks everyone deserves a chance at redemption (Unless they are a major ****** who really annoys him.)
Visual Description: A tall, fairly pale elven man with brown eyes, dark brown hair (That is often fairly messy.) down to about the bottom of his face. Wears a faded grey-blue robe that is usually open, showing a plain white peasant's shirt underneath and a pair of dark grey-blue pants and a generic wizard hat. He wears brown boots and a cloth belt to hold his robe around his waist.
Here are some ideas I came up with for First Names:
Luric
Lupin
Quynh
Nundro
Lumaris
Pelo
Norric
Quillin
Alvius
Leon
Here are some Last Names I came up with:
Wepsic
Forsythe
Speirs
Strahl
Mulroy
Havenwind
Forescar
Ironshaper
Softaxe
Whitearm
Threespire
Bronzekeep
I also put together the name Luric Havenwind which was voted on when I asked some family members, but I'd like a larger audiences opinion on this name or other names.
If you like any of the first name/last name combinations, please tell me and I'll see what others think. If you have any ideas of names that would fit my character discription, put them in a reply and Ill look at them. They don't all need to be super serious (hence the "Softaxe" and "Whitearm" last names) but as long as you think it sounds good for my character, please feel free to give ideas! Thank you!
Names, in my opinion, are the hardest thing to decide on. I tend to find a name generator and click through until I see a last name that fits and then repeat for a first name that flows well with the last. I ended up with this based on the description:
Genric Lowinde (pronounced with hard G, Ghen-rick low-wind, for flavor)
In most cases for myself, it takes a few hours unless I'm just making random NPCs. Villains and recurring NPCs also take time for me.
Thank you for the response! I like that name and I've added it to my list of choices. I also came up (with obvious inspiration from your last name) Luric Highwinde. If anyone has opinion on that name, that would be wonderful! Thanks.
Luric Havenwind seems like a perfectly good name to me. If it's what you hit upon already, there must be a reason. Try RPing by yourself your character introducing themself to others, and see how it sounds out loud in the character's voice.
Literally say out loud something like "Well met, I am Luric Havenwind, wizard of the three towers of Thrandalor, and master of the rings of Krang-to."
Rollback Post to RevisionRollBack
"Orcs are savage raiders and pillagers with stooped postures, low foreheads, and piggish faces with prominent lower canines that resemble tusks." MM p245 (original printing) You don't OWN your books on DDB: WotC can change them any time. What do you think will happen when OneD&D comes out?
