A while ago on DnD beyond you didn't have to select a class before seeing your character sheet. With a tiny bit of tweaking to HP this allowed easy level 0 starts which was useful, especially for session 0 games or character funnels.
I've noticed this option has been removed, and you now are required to go through full character creation before you're able to proceed to the character sheet.
Is there a reason for this? Is it a bug? Will the ability to make level 0 character return at some point?
If I were to guess (meaning this would need verification from official people): DDB is going by official WotC rules which do not include "level 0 - no class" characters. Skipping the WotC-mandated requirements for a playable character would have been the bug and would be fixed to keep in-line with official rules.
It's like how I seriously doubt DDB will ever recognize 1/20 fumble/crits on DCs and Saves despite how popular it is (even as an option). It's not in the official rules. Fumbles/crits on attack roles is what DDB will consider as that's the standard rules.
...unless WotC gives their blessing for an optional, non-official toggle for DC/Save fumbles/crits. (One can always hope.)

Human. Male. Possibly. Don't be a divider. My characters' backgrounds are written like instruction manuals rather than stories. My opinion and preferences don't mean you're wrong. I am 99.7603% convinced that the digital dice are messing with me. I roll high when nobody's looking and low when anyone else can see.🎲 “It's a bit early to be thinking about an epitaph. No?” will be my epitaph.
Being able to view an incomplete character sheet, ie a sheet missing key information such as class, race or ability scores, was not the intended behaviour and as such, this has been fixed.
Level 0 characters are not supported by the official rules for the fifth edition of D&D, and thus not supported by D&D Beyond. If Wizards of the Coast ever publishes official rules, DDB will endeavour to support them.

Ok cheers for the response. Makes sense that as it's not technically official that it's not supported.
I hope that official rules are brought in at some point, because level 0 starts can be great for certain campaigns and games.
