tl/dr - what non(demi)human sylvan character could best round out a party that so far consists of a ranger and a bear? E.g. - a faerie dragon is one idea. what else?
Full Story:
I am going to introduce my partner to D&D via a solo campaign. She has made a wood elf ranger. This will be a very sylvan story, at least at first - her mother is a druid that tends an important shrine, a spring that flows directly out of the Feywild. Her character was trained by rangers whose primary role is protecting the shrine from outsiders. She has an "Uncle Bob" who is a very old and powerful druid and friend of her mothers, but who is essentially just a bear now, having nearly forgotten he is anything else after spending so much time in bear form. Uncle Bob will be the ranger's companion straight away at 1st level (regardless of whether she ultimately goes Beast Master), and so can play the role of Tank. In the future, he can remember who he is at convenient times to impart plot-critical lore/advice/etc... or save her from death if it comes to that.
I'd like another character to play a spellcaster role. I'd like it to be another nonhuman/nondemihuman being that can do so, such as a faerie dragon. I'm going this route so that for the most part, the decisions can be my player's. I am thinking to make up for lack of Healing by making healing potions fairly freely available to her - the spring her mother tends has healing waters, or maybe Goodberries just grow wild in its vicinity - so whoever the 3rd party member is can be an arcane caster.
Magic Resistance. The pixie has advantage on saving throws against spells and other magical effects.
Innate Spellcasting. The pixie’s innate spellcasting ability is Charisma (spell save DC 12). It can innately cast the following spells, requiring only its pixie dust as a component:
Superior Invisibility. The pixie magically turns invisible until its concentration ends (as if concentrating on a spell). Any equipment the pixie wears or carries is invisible with it.

Perhaps a pixie? Very similar to using a Faerie Dragon but slightly lower CR, so they are less likely to outshine the Main Character.

At will: druidcraft
1/day each: confusion, dancing lights, detect evil and good, detect thoughts, dispel magic, entangle, fly, phantasmal force, polymorph, sleep
