I'm new to D&D and while coming up with what kind of character i would make i discovered the Aasimar race. Normally if a play any kind of RPG where i can choose my race i always go with human so i figured for the most part i'm probably gonna be making human characters in D&D as well ( I in general like to make my character like an avatar of myself as much as i can usually, it's makes it easier for me to get immersed into a story through my character, the furthest i ever really go [outside of games that don't let you choose your race] is being a Breton in the elder scrolls games and that's basically just a human with some elven ancestry ) but, i decided to take a look at the other races to see if anything interested me and i read about the Aasimar race. Now i'v already decided on playing as a Chaotic Good character as that pretty much fits my personality and play-style perfectly but i'm not sure if it makes sense for an Aasimar to be such. now i know in general it's all pretty much up to me and whatever backstory i make but i'v always cared about weird thing like that. From what i'v read it seems like they're perfect paladins and purveyors of light or in the case of the shadow corrupted ones pretty much the opposite.
Considering Chaotic Good is inherently good would it make sense for an Aasimar to be such? Again i'm probably thinking to much into it but i figured i'd ask.
Sure! CG is still good. Also, your character's alignment is by no means restricted by their race; elves can be evil, drow can be good, dragonborn can be neutral, etc.

There are no alignment restrictions, other than what your DM gives you, so you could play a Chaotic Evil Aasimar, if it was allowed by your DM, but in the case of some characters, they may have strong leanings towards a few, which you should have a good reason for breaking, but Aasimar tend to good, and personality helps decide Chaos or Law, so in short, Yes

"Alignment: As D&D Adventurers League play focuses on creating a welcoming, fun environment, neutral evil and chaotic evil characters aren’t allowed in the D&D Adventurers League. You can, however, play a lawful evil character, but it must be a member of either the Lords’ Alliance or Zhentarim faction."

Roll the dice and play the game, I’m not here to listen to your politics.
“But this isn’t right. You’re meant to charge in, sword drawn, banner flying-that’s what all the other knights did!” “Yeah, right before they burst into flame.”
