Any time an unfathomably powerful entity sweeps in and offers godlike rewards in return for just a few teensy favors, it’s a scam. Unless it’s me. I’d never lie to you, reader dearest.
I prefer my own homebrew take on Elves. Usually, I move the race toward a fairytale/folkloric vibe.
As far as published stuff goes, Mystara and Birthright both included some interesting Elf material. Someone out there has probably done 5E conversions of the cultures and variants in these settings. Greyhawk's grugach and Valley Elves, I'd happily use.

I really like Star Elves. I added them to my Spelljammer campaign and one of my players ended up playing one (I know they're not in Spelljammer in the lore, but I made some changes).

Do you think the elves of the Elven Imperial Fleet are star elves or high elves?

Yes. Most are high elves (and I think they are in the lore), and there are some star elves in my Spelljammer.
Evermeet is also an asteroid-island, kind of like Asgard, orbiting Toril in the Tears of Selune, and is the capitol of the Elven Armada.

Fascinating! Different from what SCAG says. My DM put the Rock of Bral from Spelljammer in the Tears of Selune too.

Yeah, I know. Evermeet in my setting is accessible through sailing in the ocean and space.

Does it still have a mythal?
Yes. It's basically the same, just is also in Spelljammer.

I very seldom play an Elf.

North Pole Elves.
Who doesn't like toys?
Gnome elves lol
Technically I should call them Polar Elves. Give them a mix of gnome and elvish traits.
Yeah, I created a Christmas adventure that had mind flayers kidnap santa and infect his elves (deep gnomes) with intellect devourer.

I am an average mathematics enjoyer.

Deep gnomes? Interesting choice.
