I just got Icewind Dale: Rime Of The Frostmaiden, and was flipping through the book, when I noticed something. The spoiler is to protect potential players of this module.
If I'm reading this correctly, sperm whales are CR 8. The Frostmaiden is a lesser god, and in her first form, is CR 9. In conclusion, whales are on par with a god. Either whales have made a pact with Asmodeus and are secretly devil whales, or I've severely misjudged the power of both a sperm whale and a lesser god.
Well, the Auril stats are her weakened Avatar, so the Whale isn't on par with an actual god. Auril could probably kill a whale quickly. However, if Auril 1.0 fails her save against the Whale's bite, she's basically dead. The CRs of the animals are a bit off (a T. rex is CR 8 while a Brontosaurus is 5?), so take them with a grain of salt.

Yeah...according to GGtR, a Tax Collector Angel (Deathpact) is 2 CRs higher than an Army Angel (Battleforce).
