I was hoping to adapt the Temple of Elemental Evil into a single (8-10 hour) session for my players ala Sunless Citadel length. What are some highlights or must-haves of the classic mega-dungeon that I ought to include? Otherwise what are some tips you'd have for doing this?
You might be best off just choosing one of the elemental dungeons if you want to keep it to 8-10 hours. Maybe there are three other "teams" that have been dispatched to the other temples while their team is sent to take a specific temple?
If they manage to finish that temple early, have them teleported to one of the other temples to help the other team who just happens to be near the end, and dying (or having lost team members).
Definitely start with the Moathouse. It's kind of legendary.

"Orcs are savage raiders and pillagers with stooped postures, low foreheads, and piggish faces with prominent lower canines that resemble tusks." MM p245 (original printing) You don't OWN your books on DDB: WotC can change them any time. What do you think will happen when OneD&D comes out?
