Looking for clarification. As written, it seems to me that a Raise Dead spell wouldn't work on a victim who has had their brain 'magically devoured' by an Intellect Devourer. Such a thing would require Resurrection or the like, correct?
If the creature is lacking body parts or organs integral for its survival--its head, for instance--the spell automatically fails.
I would say that your brain is a pretty vital organ, so Raise dead cannot raise a character who has had their brain devoured.
Now, about resurrection. It restores missing parts, which would include the brain. However, if the intellect devourer has replaced your brain, what happens then? two brains in one space, which would kill you? intellect devourer is kicked out? and your body isn't really dead, just "you" are. Your soul has left your body, and a new one has replaced it (the intellect devourers). This would require DM interpretation.
