My name is Gibson but you can call me Gibby. I am a professional stay at home software engineer by day, lore writer, map maker, and D&D enthusiast by night. I love cooking, movies, TV, exercise, and of course table top games! I have been playing variants of table top rpg's such as: Pathfinder, 5th Edition , Pathfinder 2E, Shadowrun, and Call of Cthulhu for well over ten years now. While I love playing, Dm'ing is my true passion and I am looking to expand my adventure to some new players!

About the Game

Black Books: To the Edge of the Sea is an open world sailing, adventure and exploration game set in the vast oceans of the world of Apolis. Here is this time the world is still recovering four hundred years after a world ending event known as "The 12 Depths", a cataclysmic storm that raged across the known lands destroying everything in its wake. In the time since the 12 Depths, the world has began to flourish again as the descendants of those who have survived begin to form civilizations, discover and understand old world technology, and set sail for vast riches and power in a almost untamed new world filled with danger, adventure, and mysteries. What mark will you and your crew make on this perilous time in history?

Game Features:

Truly open world exploration - Plot hooks exist but you as players will decide what way I DM and what adventures you wish to partake in. Towns, cities, settlements and villages are all interactable with lists of services and key places. You will also have access to a myriad of vehicles at your disposal

Custom Hexagonal Maps and Custom Maps from your DM - Through the use of my subscribed patreons and my own map making skills players will be able to explore colored battle maps and world entries to their hearts content

Expansive Class and Race Customization - Want to play a Wise Strength Based Orc Monk Soul Knife, or a Buff Elven Tech Knight? Between Tashas Cauldron of everything expanded race rules and Kibbles Tasty Classes/ Matthew Mercer there are a myriad of choices of who and what you can be.

Custom Tokens, classes, subclasses and Art - All of my character classes, subclasses, items , and npc tokens are custom made or tailored to fit my players wants and needs. We use all normal 5e official content, some Unearthed Arcana and pre-approved or custom made Black Books content.

Interactive world details - Calendars, Currencies, Illicit Substances, generated taverns, city sizes and populations, named money and denomination amounts, even moon cycles for the druids who are curious are all a part of the setting.

Custom Chapter Art - For every new major arc the party finds themselves in I make new chapter art to show off similar to adventure modules.

Custom 4k and 8k distributed maps and ambience - Like a back screen or want to show off to your friends? Every major map is available to players at 4k and 8k resolution for wallpaper. We also include during sessions custom watch2gether links for ambience sounds to really throw you into the world on the high seas.

Bi-Weekly Games with flexible running days - DM prep can be difficult, currently I am attempting to move houses so games will be biweekly starting from session 0 moving forward. After a few months and my relocation has occurred if the party wishes to become weekly my schedule is flexible.

Custom Items - With the help of the Griffons Saddle Bag players have the chance of finding a myriad of custom items and content not listed on the major guide like *******. The skies the limits on what your character can own.

Discord and Legend Keeper utilities -  Want to find the latest news or information about the game? Discord allows us to meet and keep real time links to your party and me (your DM). Legend Keeper will act as your hub for player knowledge and in game information!

Elite Array for Characters - Worried about being underpowered compared to your party? Worry not as I use the Elite Array system for base stats with all characters from session 0 starting at level 3: [15,14,13,12,10,8]

Who am I looking for

This game is open to alignment and experience level. I have DM'ed enough games that I tailor difficulty around the group and less around those that can meta their way through 5e. Give me your crazy characters that are willing to explore adventure and pirate the seas. You can be good or bad but as long as we are having fun and you play by the rules then adventure to your hearts content.

 

Requirements:

Willingness to appear at meeting times and attend regularly

Real life always comes before D&D so I completely understand scheduling, work, or family related issues. Just make sure you are showing up to sessions regularly and if you need to miss just send me a message even 30 mins before game.

 

Access to a solid microphone, internet, and discord

These requirements are meant to make sure you can interreact and participate regularly. We will have sessions in discord. I strongly encourage having a solid quality mic or headset so the party and myself can hear and communicate effectively with you

 

Willingness to go with rule of cool

"Be cool to others and others will be cool to you" is a phrase I live by. Your party members may not be quite as experienced as you are so give them a little slack. We are here to have fun and enjoy friendly company and a game. You can make noises, funny character voices, really get into your game as this is a no judgement and ERP free zone. Play and be who you want to be here and be respectful of others because they will be respectful of you.

 

Creative and engaging

My games always have a good amount of intrigue, plot, and what I call "Michael Bay" moments of action in them. This is not a sit and play on your phone while we have a session campaign. I love my players interacting and storytelling with each other, the world, and npcs alike! Bring your cool and interesting characters to the table and we will make it work!

I have been playing for around 3 years now and have been a DM for 2 and a half

A bit about you:
I am 17 year old Male (If that's a problem gl on finding players since you to have a great game ready for people) I have been wanting to get more into rpg's as a whole and learn from dm's that have more experience then i . I am also looking for a fun game to play in that is a bit more serious then the ones i have hosted before.

What is a dream character, despite class or race, that you would like to play, not just in my game, but in any 5e game:
I have been wanting to play a type of banished noble someone who is followed by they're past depending on the locations they go to but try's to push forward and find a new life for them self's in a ever changing world. A 2nd idea is a long term privateer that has finally broken it off with one of the states and now works for him self and people he finds along the way.

I am looking for a group to help me get into the hobby more see more peoples prospective on how they play the game and just have a fun time with new people . Since the only experience i have is playing with my same few lads for 3ish years and watching streams.

 A bit about you: I'm a seasoned player as I have experience in other rpgs including 2E,  Call of Chuthlhu, Vampire the Masquerade, Mage the Ascension, and Mutant Chronicles to name a few.  I enjoy getting into character, working out his quirks and habits to bring him alive.  A memorable experience with humor is what I strive for.  My time as a DM I try to make the sessions filled with fun and challenges. What is a dream character, despite class or race, that you would like to play, not just in my game, but in any 5e game:  Hmm, that's a great question since I don't have a dream character.  I found myself being the player that filled the class that the party needed, and yes that was normally healer.  But I guess an assassin rogue who used crossbows if not firearms.  Why get up close and personal when you can make friends from a distance.  

 What are you looking for in your party and in your DM: Creativity.  Also to create an experience for players that can be challenging and enjoyable.  A DM that will listen to his/her players.  Lastly to be fair.

I have been playing less than a year, but I have played a campaign before and am currently DM-ing my own campaign on Sundays.

I am 15 years old, which i hope isnt an issue, I enjoy drawing, and I tend to be anxious around people I dont know very well, so it may affect some of my RP, however it is one of my favorite parts of dnd so i try to not let that affect me.

I don't particularly have a dream character, as I enjoy creating a variety of characters that I would have fun playing as.

What are you looking for in your party and in your DM: I am looking for a fun dnd game that allows me to RP and enjoy my playing as my character. I would like to have some conversations with other characters as I play, as RP is one of my fav aspects. I would like to be able to flesh out my character as the campaign goes on, so it would be nice if i were able to do that.
