Red Larch has been an important stop on the Long Road for two centuries now. Named for a distinctive stand of red larch trees that were cut down when the hamlet was founded, Red Larch became a settlement in the first place thanks to a drinkable spring that fed a sizable pond ideal for watering horses, oxen, and pack mules. An east-west trail meets the Long Road at the pond, running west to the logging community of Kheldell and east to Bargewright Inn and eventually Secomber. Another trail leads to quarries in the Sumber Hills and to ruins of stone keeps long ago left to monsters and outlaws (the Haunted Keeps). In recent years, new quarries have been opened on the northwestern edge of town. So far these have yielded up great slabs of marble much prized in Waterdeep for facing large new buildings and repairing older edifices. Red Larch is also a center for stonecutters quarrying slate on the fringes of the Sumber Hills.
While Red Larch remains prosperous, dark omens are appearing. The heart of the Sumber Hills has become far more dangerous, with monsters lurking seemingly everywhere (no one goes into the hills berry-picking or hare-hunting these days, though Red Larcher children traditionally did so daily in summer and fall). Banditry is on the rise, and the weather seems to be getting more severe and more unpredictable. Several Red Larcher shepherds have seen strange figures watching them from distant hillsides in the wild fields east of town where they have traditionally grazed their flocks. Quarry workers used to cut by torchlight when orders were backing up but do so no longer, shunning the pits by night. They are spooked by rumors of dark-robed figures in stone masks lurking in the darkness beyond the torchlight. The townsfolk fear that dangerous times are at hand, but no one seems to know what to do about it.
Welcome! I am an experienced 5e DM looking to run my first PBP game using Princes of the Apocalypse. Though that is the basis for this campaign I will not hold the group strictly to that adventure. If you are interested please fill out the form below and describe a level 2 character. No homebrew, but CR and UA are allowed. Standard array or point buy will be used for ability scores. Play will take place entirely on dndbeyond.
Life is very busy unfortunately, gone from most Pbp's indefinitely. If you'd like to contact me, I am on Discord at GreatAxeblade#7595, always happy to chat :)
Backstory: Eroth grew up as a hunter taking what he needed before moving on. Eroth grew up with his Elvish parents before their death, him only being 14 was taken in and trained by thieves to help make distractions. Eroth getting more skilled became in charge of the thieves at the age of 20. He takes care of Assassin business leaving the stealing to his understudies. Though he steals and kills at heart he longs for affection often bringing him to spy on the drama going around the land hearing very interesting rumors about Red Larch
Why are you in Red Larch?: the rumors pulled the attention of the thieves as well as Eroth so a business trip could be said in the least
Your Name: You don't need to know, just call me Great_Axeblade or Axe
Your Age: Old enough to operate motor vehicles, too young to be President of the USA.

Character Name: Bigchan Gauss
Race/Class: Rabbitfolk
Backstory:
He's faithful, proud, witty and perhaps a little too nervous. But there's more than meets the eye, not surprising for somebody with his position. Bigchan was born in a small family in a developing port. He lived free of trouble until he was about 16 years old, but at that point life changed when they got evicted. He moved out and was slowly improving upon existing skills. With the help of great friends, he made a fortune in a wild world. But with his capability and diligence, there's nothing to stop him from staying ahead of the game. He could quickly become somebody who could change the world. However, he is currently still looking for a true calling. He feels like there's more than people let on in this world.

Hey if this is still open i would like to ask how many players are you looking for, I have a group of 4-6 players all completely new to d&d and we are looking for anyone to teach us and dm a game for us, please lmk if you are okay with this.
RP Experience: DM for 4+ years. I run a play by post game also on my discord and run 2 other DND Campaigns throughout the week. In PBP i post once a day minimum more if i can
Character Name: Gnoliath
Race/Class: Gnome Barbarian
Backstory: Deep in the Mountains near Red Larch is a dwarven community, bonded with gnomes. They work hard and dilligent around the clock. The Dwarves bring up the metal while the gnomes tinker and design new weapons and gears for war. The gnomes would study magical properies and implement them into the fine crafted blades and axes that the great forgemasters would bring them. And then theres me... I hate that crap... Honestly swinging a pick axe is soo much cooler then studying stupid books and enchanting. So i decided to go down into the Mines... Well i tried the Dwarves claim "I'm not strong enough, and stick to where you belong" So i'm here to prove my strength. Get my hand in a Mercenary guild or any kind of glory i can get. I heard of the disappearances and if i could solve this mystery and slay the monsters they will have no choice but to acknowledge how strong i am!
Why are you in Red Larch?: I was shunned from being a miner in the Quarry... now i aim to prove my strength as a warrior. Holding a pickaxe (Reflavored great axe) I'll show them that i may be small but i am mighty.
RP Experience: New, but I know how to play. I've played one game as a player and 5 or 6 as a DM.
Character Name: MarKus
Race/Class: Dragonborn/Fighter
Backstory: Used to be a soldier, but his military lost thousands of troops in war and were forced to call a truce with the enemy. The enemy had one condition, which was that they fire their best warrior: MarKus. He would still do anything for that military.
Why are you in Red Larch?:
There have been rumors of a serious threat to the military MarKus used to be a part of, and he plans to intersect it and defeat it before it has a chance to do whatever it is that it intends to do.

Once, I went to brush my teeth and yelled, "Who's in the bathroom!?!?", but the door was open, the light was off, and I live alone. Then, while brushing my teeth, I dropped my toothbrush. Trying to catch it, I knocked it across the room. I got the toothbrush and went back to the sink, which I had left on. My drain was clogged and the water spilled all over the floor. I went to get the mop, mopped the floors, then wondered why they were getting wetter. I found out that I had left the water on AGAIN! Enjoy!
I'm not sure if you're still looking, but here is my application in case you are!
Your Name: Alex or Axo
Your Age: 15
Timezone: Mountain Standard(Arizona time)
RP Experience: Around 3-ish years(not all D&D though)
Character Name: Aquirium/Aqui(pronounced ah-key)
Race/Class: Eladrin elf/Rogue
Backstory: (All ages are in elf years. For reference, around 18 in human years is ~100 in elf years if I am correct(feel free to correct me if I'm not)Was born into a dying family so they learned how to steal and thieve by the time they were 31. They've only ever been caught once when they were 46, rotting in jail for a few years before managing an escape while the minimal guards watching them were occupied with some drinks. After that, Aqui has made sure that no one is around whenever they pull off a robbery, although that never means they kill anyone. Staying on the run is a hard life, but it's the only one that Aquirium has lived.
Why are you in Red Larch?: Aqui heard about the increase in crimes while visiting a few towns over and decided that that fact alone would give them enough cover to pull at least something off. They wanted to blend in, both before and after they strike.
Sorry, but I'm pretty sure this thread is long dead.
