Game: D&D 5e; (Discord for A/V, Foundry VTT for virtual tabletop)
Experience: All welcome
Campaign Setting: Wildemount, pre-CR Campaign 2
Location/Timezone: Central Time America (Texas/Chicago) = GMT+5 (now, daylight savings time in the US is weird and will shift everything forward 1hr in Autumn)
Availability: Every Wednesday from 7-10pm Central Time (Texas/Chicago); flexible and willing to shift to an alternative day if existing players are agree to the new proposed time. We will skip weeks when there are holidays or if less than 50% of players are present for a session.
Preferred Role: Player preferrably
Current Party Level: 4
Gamestyle: We are definitely the beer 'n pretzels kind of group with a bit of an RP-heavy twist. Most sessions will start with everyone joining the Discord channel, chatting about random things that happened in the week from male tree gametes producing an adverse reaction in a player that is quite comedic to lamenting about the yearly occurrence of drudgery that is local elections...or taxes.In-game, the DM will try to engage characters with either very realistic or comedic (in IMO) roleplay via a variety of different NPC dialogue. Every character, no matter how minor, has a backstory and their own motivations or goals.
I'm currently running a campaign in the Wildemount Campaign setting and am looking to bolster the existing party of 3 players with 2-3 new players. We had a couple players drop out due to personal issues, and so are trying to keep the campaign and fun going.
A Typical Game Session: Usually, our sessions begin with everyone saying hello, grabbing a beverage of their choice, and either a player or the DM doing a "Last week on Dragon Ball Z"-style recap of the events leading up to the current session. This both serves to remind everyone what's going on, and is also a fun way to relax and start getting into character. After that, the session officially begins and players can focus on and enjoy roleplaying their character. As the DM, I'll try to use different voices and accents for various NPCs as I find that this helps immerse players and make them more comfortable RP'ing. I'm not a rules stickler and if a rule needs to be looked up, then I'll usually just make an arbitrary decision to keep the gameplay flowing and ask the player to look up the rule between combat rounds, or between sessions so that we all know next time. Since we are a relatively heavy-RP group, your character's backstory will matter significantly as I will pull elements from it into the campaign which could be as subtle as giving a spotlight for your character to RP and tell the party about a part of their backstory, or be a major quest chain which takes a dozen sessions to complete. Also, for alcoholic beverages are typically consumed, players should expect at least three 5 minute breaks during each 3-hour session, because...CH3CH2OH + homo sapiens = restroom breaks.
I highly recommend reaching out to current and previous players as they will be in the best position to offer their personal experiences (PM and I'll forward messages/contact info to players depending on their preference). As a DM, I'm very likely biased, but would best describe this campaign as the "Mid-Week Quasi-Debaucherous D&D Sesh of Fun".
Campaign Background: The campaign is currently set roughly 1 year prior to where the Explorer's Guide to Wildemount source book is set, so no Critical Role spoilers from either campaign 1 or 2 will be present. The campaign will force players to make various choices where, like in real life, there aren't any clear solutions and being the hero could result in a huge personal loss to your character. This is very much a dark and gritty campaign where players will encounter themes such as the cost of war, tyranny, and revolution or how easily the best intentions can lead to terrible outcomes.
Requirements/Preferences:
As the 2 other existing party members and myself will probably be drinking alcoholic beverages during the session, I would generally feel most comfortable if players were 21+ (or of legal drinking age wherever you hail from), with 18+ being the minimum due to the dark and gritty nature of the campaign. All other players and myself are in the 25-28 age range.
Overall, I hope my post gives off the impression that I'm a very passionate DM who will put in the effort to make sure that everyone, including myself, has a fun experience, and hope for my players to do the same.
Cheers, Tom

Hey! It looks like you've got some interest already, so I don't know if it's still available, but I've been looking for a Wednesday night game for a while. I'm the DM for two other games, and I'd really like to be a player again as well, so this really stood out to me. I sent you an add on discord; hope to hear from you soon!
I would love to play in this. Busy/traveling for work this Wednesday, though. Sounds right up my alley. Been playing TTRPG for years. Need role-playing in story that matters. Would prefer to start character at level one and catch up. Does that work? Sent friend request to almst1#7556 via Discord.
Hello! I sent you a friend request over discord though I'm posting here. Myself and a friend of mine would be interested in partaking. I personally am quite familiar with Critical Role though my buddy has never w as etched it really maybe a few episodes. Though we are both 21+ and have about 5-6 years of dnd experience each. Hit me up at Deraphes#5738 if youd want to get a hold of me
I'm interested. I have a quick character concept if you want to take a look at that.
Variant Human or Half Elf Eloquence Bard who was born a Sorcerer. Being the darling of the small town he grew up in, his magical prowess made him the definition of a big fish in a little pond. However, when he was no older than 14, an evil archmage came to his village and tore his powers from his body. Lost and alone, he wondered from place to place begging for almost 12 years until he was picked up by a musician who taught him the power and wonder of words and music. Rediscovering his power through new means, he sets out to find the archmage and to rid the world of as much evil as he can.
It's more just a placeholder for a non-magical, Bard-like mentor character. I haven't full fleshed out the mentor character but they will be closer to what an eloquence bard is by the time I have it all set
Well my character idea would be a 5th son of a Marquess, putting them far enough out of line of succession to allow him to become a Knight-errant (fighter Cavalier) with the idea of him becoming eventually a warlock this I would leave up to you when it happens but, this should be done by his family being killed off as some packs can be hereditary (so head of the house gains the house Boone/curse (warlock: packed Hexblade)) this could lead to some interesting party dynamics and questions of the characters priority, what is more important the party and current campaign objectives compared to finding out what happened to his family has he would be in these powers immediately and not knowing what happened back home.
I wanted to reach out to let y'all know that the party filled up way faster than I could've imagined and appreciate everyone's interest and initiative. I apologize that I didn't respond to each message or friend request on Discord, but wish everyone a happy D&D'ing!
Cheers! Tom

Moderator Heads-up: This is a new post from the same DM as https://www.dndbeyond.com/forums/d-d-beyond-general/looking-for-players-groups/97256-lfp-weekly-wednesday-7-10pm-ct-beer-battlemages-18, however since that post is quite old, and circumstances have changes, I figured that creating a new post would be most apropos

Why an eloquence bard if he's been trained by a musician?
