The Dawn of Magic
A story focused campaign based in a mid magic setting
Two years have passed since the free peoples of Ancora suffered the wrath of The Shattering, a cataclysmic explosion on a planetary scale that originated from the mysterious lands of Harath Moden in the West.
Much of the world's sky has since been covered in dark clouds that spread from Harath Moden in the aftermath of the explosion. The world, now almost completely shrouded from the sun, faces famine , political unrest, and the threat of war as Men, Elves and Dwarves vie over control of dwindling resources.
Furthermore, rumors of a great power rising in the South West have been spreading in the free lands. A terrible evil stirs beyond the jagged Khuhamar mountains, where no men go. Outer lying towns and villages across the free lands have mysteriously started going dark, whether from drought or from something worse, none yet know...
Yet, hope remains. A guild of enigmatic men and elves calling themselves the Magi have been seen in the free cities in the last year. Having great and mysterious arcane powers, these Magi have brought a measure of light and hope back to the free peoples, but their powers and true motives are not yet known.

Hi there! We are four friends (3 guys and a girl) that have been playing our homebrew campaign for about 5 months and are looking for one more player to join our weekly homebrew campaign as we feel like having one additional player would add to the fun. We play every Saturday at 3pm GMT and the players are now lvl 5. Due to one of the players needing to take a short break for a few weeks, we decided to use this time to find one more player :)
On what you can expect from the campaign:
- The Dawn of Magic is a campaign based in a low/mid magic setting. Magic in this world is very new, a product of The Shattering. It's secrets are known only to the Guild of the Magi, and it is seen as both great and terrible by the normal people of Ancora.
- The classes available are: Barbarians, Fighters, Magi (a modified version of Wizards), Clerics, Rangers (a heavily modified martial version of the Ranger class), Rogues. Other standard classes might be allowed, but this would be based on the DM's discretion and would likely be homebrewed to fit in this world
On the game:
- Our game has been going on for 5 months and the players are level 5. Your character will very likely be a level 5 character too
- Sessions will go from 4 hours to as long as 6 if everyone at the table wants to. There will be a 10-15 minute break close to the 2 hour mark
- Usually, our games in the past end up having a mix of 70% RP, 30% combat on average (for reference)
- This will be a long form campaign. We hope to keep playing this campaign for months, if not years :)
On what I expect from my players:
-No harassment of any kind at the table.
-No PvP, No stealing from other PC's, no
disruptivemalicious behavior (we love a bit of chaos!)-90% attendance
-Simply put, if you're a respectful player, then everything will be fine
-That you don't be afraid to ask questions :)
Lastly, you will need to be prepared to spend some time with the DM getting to know the world and the story so far, and your characters background before your first game.

I'm 33 years old and have been DMing for the last 3 years and loving everything about it. Ancora is my homebrew worId have been crafting for the better part of a year.

Q2. i am a D&D major always looking to join an adventure filled with adventure and to explore the vast lands it has to offer.

Q4. in my experience Ive played more as a GM then as a player but i am looking to shifting the balance.

A: --- My experience with D&D has been with board games and MMOPRGs. D&D 5e so far has only been streams, rule books, character creations and gameplay theory.

A: --- Preferrably I would like to start at lvl 1 and at a start of a campaign, but these adventures are stories so one can fit a character appearance in the middle of the story and since its lvl 5 its manageable. I love stories so if well made it will definitely be interesting yes.
Q: What kind(s) of characters might you be interested in playing for this campaign? Can you list up to 2 brief concepts.
A: --- My passion is towards Clerics and Clerics only. You can make multiple concepts of Clerics but I was aiming at a full Heal/Support with little Dmg options, mostly supported by evocations. Another concept I could go with could be like a Cleric off-tank, since my Cleric has profiency with Heavy Armor and has a Shield, plus the Supporting buffs could serve him and the main tank very well.
Q: What things could keep you from making it on time to the weekly scheduled session?
A: --- I'm very strict and precise when scheduling hours to It would be extremly rare for me to show up late to an hour that I haven't agreed with. However, because Chaos is a thing, I could be kept by a sudden 2-3 minute task that needs to be done around the house, or by a meeting issued by my Boss but those are predictable so I can always inform the party in advance.
Q: What are you looking for in a DM?
A: --- Serious, passion driven person when it comes to world building and story-telling. Expert in the rules of his own world/D&D world and open minded to the many possibilities that may appear in every decision making.

Just answering some questions I've received from you guys so far:
While it is possible, its very unlikely that we will have more than one session a week, since we are all quite busy with work and other things IRL :( Adulting is lame.
Regarding the tools that we use, we use a discord channel for chatting and sharing images, homebrew rules and to generally keep in touch outside the game. We also use d&dbeyond for character sheets and Zoom for video/audio chat. Lastly, we use owlbear.io for maps during combat.
Just the ones mentioned in my post above. Otherwise, we are a very easy going gang :)

A: RPG wise, I’ve been roleplaying since high school, it’s mostly been chat based and not specificity in the setting of dnd, only recently have I gotten into dnd as a whole. I have been in three games total, all small and not too worried about rules, just more to play for fun than anything else.

A: Totally fine, if anyone takes notes I'd be happy to read them over and try my best to catch up as quickly as possible.

A: I would be interested in playing a half-orc barbarian, sort of a big himbo, hits hard, makes not so smart choices. Which is always fun to rp. Or a tiefling cleric who’s a little more elegant with a few tricks up his sleeve.

A: I’m in the PST time zone, so if anything it will just be setting my alarm clock. I do wake up around 8-9am anyways as most of my classes are early morning so I don’t see an issue.

A: Someone who can weave together a good and engaging storyline, being able to include everyone is a big plus for me as well!

A: I am new to dnd as a whole, I am in another campaign that is very chill and easy going, so I do learn bits and pieces from it. Otherwise all my random bits and bobs of knowledge come from critical role or dimension 20. That being said, I feel like I am a pretty fast learner, but I do think I’ll need some help here and there to figure out how mechanics work.
