Hi! I'm rather new to dnd in general, and have only played two sessions with friends so far. My cousins and other family members would love for me to show them how to play dnd, but being new I don't know much. I'm looking for a patient DM that can teach me the ropes of both player and DM. Thanks!
My recommendation to you would be to try running Lost Mine of Phandelver with them. Get yourself a copy of the following books and read them over. the player handbook, Lost mine of phandelver. if youre really into the idea of DM'ing then the Dungeon Masters handbook is helpful for ideas though its not mandatory. The Lost mine campaign is written for first time dungeon masters, it tells you the general gist of running traps and encounters, combat, roleplay scenarios and exploration for your players. Its a really insightful place to begin. The campaign ends around level 5, which is a great launching level for your next adventure, pretty much any campaign can follow it up. As a DM you can make any on the fly modifications that you like.
If you need some help direct message me with your questions and I will be glad to help you out. I have been running games for many years and specialize in teaching new players and DMs
I run a discord server where we teach people how to DM. Hit me up if you're still looking to get into it! The ultimate goal is to give you opportunities to play and DM and then set you up with a group to take for one-shots and eventually a campaign.
