Hail and well met new adventures and welcome to Phandlin, a mining town nestled in the rocky foothills of the snow-capped sword mountains. home to many settlers that came from Neverwinter the city of skilled hands and Waterdeep the city of splendors the people here are friendly and welcoming to travelers.
Recently however a great white dragon has been sighted in the area which has disturbed the town and many locations beyond it. and a need for brave adventurers has become known across the sword coast. that's where you come in.
About the game
As you might have noticed from the description of the game, you all will be starting as a group of adventurers and friends who have come to Phandlin to seek their fortune and plying your trade by taking on quests that seek to solve issues of the town and the areas surrounding it, how you solve these issues are entirely dependant on your decisions and could have an effect on the environment around you. as you continue to help and finish quests your power, wealth and fame shall grow to the point that you may be powerful enough to challenge the looming white terror in the sky. Sessions will take 3-4 hours. All experience levels are welcomed especially new and returning players as this module is quite easy to understand and wrap your head around the goal of quests, but even veteran players of 5e will have a lot of fun interacting with the world and its challenges. if you are new to either D&D 5e, Roll20, or RPG's in general I will do my best to teach you the ropes and you don't have to worry about not knowing things, we all been there, as long as you have the want to learn I am sure we can get you on your feet by session 1.
I'm quite knowledgeable in the rules of 5e and can provide smooth sessions without having to flip through the rulebook all the time. Constructive Criticism is always welcomed after sessions, I strive to make the best experience for my players but I will need your help to do so. Jokes and swearing are totally fine however racism, sexism, bigotry, and any other nefarious behaviors towards other players are not allowed at my table, respect all around goes places in keeping the group together and maximizing fun.
Character Creation
Dragon of Icespire peak is a 1-6 level module so we will be starting at 1st level. I allow all official Wizard of the Coasts books to be used when making your character as long as it makes sense within the setting but withhold the right to refuse a race or subclass if I think it won't fit the game, any Unearthed Arcana, or homebrew must be approved by me beforehand. We will be using a more buffed standard array for stats generation that goes like this: 16,15,14,12,10,08.
Characters will be made during session 0, I recommend you have a base idea in your head if you want but try and not build too much on it as we will be doing that during session 0 and I prefer the players to work in conjunction with each other as you will be making a party of adventurers that already know each other and have been traveling together for some time so planing around each other is preferred
About me
Hello, my name is Zakaria, but you will probably call me Zak like the rest of my friends. I'm he/him, 20 years old with a strong love for role-playing, collaborative storytelling, and honestly just having a good time in general. I have been running and playing D&D for over 3 years and I enjoy it very much. It always makes me happy to hear my players scream when a terrifying enemy approaches them, feel the nervousness in their voice when I ask them if they are sure about their next action and the multitude of questions they ask me, which shows that they are interested in the story and very immersed in it. However, what makes me most happy is when a player says that they really enjoyed the session.
Concerning Payment
Session 0 is totally free! we will get around and talk character ideas and teach any new players the ropes, after that, you will have to pay 7.50$ which is half the amount declared in the post for session 1, and after that payment will be in full for subsequent sessions. Payment is always done before sessions within 72H of the end of the previous one (ex: You will have to pay 7.50 dollars within 72H after session 0). Please take caution when sending money to others online. D&D Beyond is not responsible for monetary transactions outside of direct purchases on our site.
Requirements:
Having a good mic is a must as we will be using discord's voice chat to talk in-game so get discord as well if you don't have it and also have a roll20 account(you can make one for free) as we will use that to visualize maps and rolls, decent internet helps as well, a webcam is not necessary but if you want to use it be my guest. If you want in on the Adventure then please post your application in the thread below by answering these questions:
If I was interested, what guarantee do I have, after paying, that the game will go ahead? If I'm paying prior to the session, and 72 hours prior, what's to stop you simply taking the money and deciding not to run the session? Or, on a less horrible thought, what if something unexpected comes up IRL for you. Will you refund all the players? Or what protection do the players have?
Good questions, well the idea is that we will be having a session 0 to talk and see if we mesh well together, that should give you an idea about me, but if you are looking for hardcore protection then you would be correct paid dming does not have protection besides the word of the dm, but I believe since payment is done through paypal you can refund your payment even if it takes some time, but logically there is no reason for me to go through so much work to get players just so they can pay me once and I dissapear on them, that is not lucrative at all, I want to play every week and get more people to know me so I can have more of a player base that I can then call on if I make more games in the future and this is not the first payed game that i want to run, i already have three going already. as for if something happens in real life whether to the players or to me and we cant play then whatever you paid goes to the next session unless you want to leave the campaign then as long as you give me a notice of 4 days or more before next session so I can hopefully find a replacement then im happy to refund any payment you might have sent for the next session. and obviously, if you can't make it but we do have a session then your payment simply counts for the next one you will be in. I hope that answers your questions
I mean, I've seen people, on this site, run that scam. They post messages looking for people, ask for payment a few days before the session and simply don't appear or take the payment and remove the player. And I'm not saying that's what you'll do, don't get me wrong. I just want to ask these questions to make sure players or anyone interested know they have some form of security before they get into it.
Oh, and just for the record, I'm actually coming from the viewpoint of a paid DM myself.
