New to D&D but have decent academic knowledge and strong background in RPGs (NES Zelda and FF, Ultima on the Apple IIe if anyone is old enough to remember that, etc.), listen to the podcasts and own the books but can't find a party to join. Ideally I'm looking for a campaign that's newbie friendly and doesn't take itself too seriously. The podcasts "Authors and Dragons" and "Drunks and Dragons" both play a large roll (no pun intended) in my desire to start playing, if that gives you any insight (full of unintentional puns tonight) into where I'm coming from. My real world job is life-and-death serious enough, I'd prefer my free time be more funny and upbeat.
Local game would be cool (Memphis, TN) but also fine with a Roll20 style campaign. Might also have some friends (and wife) who might want to join if additional players are needed.
I'm also on Discord if that helps, atPhantomTesla.
One last thing, I'm no stranger to taking initiative (damn it, stupid puns). I'd prefer to learn from an experienced DM but I'm fine with taking over as DM if we wind up with an Island of Misfit Toys situation here ( i.e., all jelly-shooting guns but no Santa)...
Hi there! I am running a homebrew campaign on Discord/Roll20, we are down a player and would love to have you join. This is my first online DMing XP, but I have played for 20+ years, and DMed for about 10. We are a friendly, fun group who just likes having fun! We meet every Weds from 11am CST to around 3pm CST.

We have a group that plays Monday nights in Memphis. We will be starting a new campaign in a few weeks. I’m still learning he game but love playing. Let me know if you haven’t found a group.
To ChewDog: I'm trying to brush back up on my DM skills (after a few decades away from the table) to introduce my 14-y-o daughter and her friends to D&D. Any chance you'd let someone sit in and watch/take notes for a few nights? Local to Memphis (Germantown).
I'm new to D&D. Never played... but love listening to real-play Podcasts and want to join a local game in the near future. I live in Collierville, TN but wouldn't mind driving anywhere in the Greater Memphis area if there was a spot open or a campaign that someone is looking for an extra player for. I know this is an old thread, but I figured I'd shoot my shot.
