Aussie player LFG either online or in person

Experience: New(ish) - I have some experience playing adventurer's league, but it's only about a month, and I don't understand most of the deeper mechanics/balance around the game
Location/Timezone: AEST/UTC+10
Availability: Generally pretty flexible, mostly available around weekends and Fridays, but it depends a lot on timezone factors
Preferred role: Player
Game style: I have a strong preference towards roleplay-heavy games, games which focus on narrative elements and character dynamics, and especially games with interesting world-building, or that are willing to let characters experiment with the world and backstories within said world

Hello to everyone here on the forum! I've been casting around for any way to get involved in a campaign somehow, stumbled onto this forum, and figured it might be a good place to start!

A little bit more about me: I have played DnD before, but not really in a serious (read - continuous and consistent) vein. Mostly once or twice, with a structured play group that I fell out of contact with after moving cities. So as a result, my skills are... a combination of rusty and underdeveloped. I've always been a really big fantasy buff, and I love world-building, character creation, and just... everything in that vein! And so, I ended up catching the DnD bug, and realised late that I needed some kind of creative outlet. And while I'm good with creating concepts, I figure I need more practice with... actually putting said skills into practice!

That's is how I came to post here! i'd be happy to get involved with either an online or an in-person group (if there are any Sydney-based groups looking for in-person members), but I'd also be happy for a global online one! Whatever works! At the moment, my availability is pretty free most days of the week, except for Thursdays. Due to timezone problems, I can probably only make evening games if you're hosting them online, and outside of Australia, but otherwise, I'd be more than willing to join from across the pond! And if, by some chance, you happen to be in Sydney, looking for a new in-person group-member, I'd love to get involved somehow!
