Game: D&D 5e Group preferred: Online - a little nervous about using voices so if anyone uses text/messages to play I would prefer that, but if that is NOT a thing at all, then I will summon up enough courage to use my voice! Experience: Brand new - I've played Baldurs Gate so I am generally familiar and I am a quick study/love going through the rabbit hole of research, but never played Dnd with a group before Location/Timezone: US EST Availability: Evening/weekends Preferred role: Player Game style: Casual since I'm new but I am really interested in the roleplay aspect of it!
I made a character that is a human bard just because that was what inspired me RP wise. I suppose I am looking for a group that is just having fun with the roleplay and so decisions don't have to be "perfect" but rather in tune with the character (more fun than feeling pressure to do the "right" thing all the time especially since I am new)
I wouldn't say no to joining the same group as you. In fact, I was thinking of making the same sort of post, but then I saw you. It looks like we're even in the same time zone, and are coming at this from the same general direction of experienced inexperience: I, too, am mostly familiar with the rules systems through games like Baldur's Gate or Neverwinter Nights.
My schedule is pretty flexible at the moment, so I can do evenings and weekends. I also prefer to be a player. I might DM someday, but that day is not this day.
I have a human character already created at level one that is an agile rapier-focused fighter with a background as a noble (and is thus also focused on Charisma and Intelligence, though her Wisdom takes a hit due to a sheltered upbringing). I can play in text format or voiced format if need be--most of my experience at roleplay is from play-by-post forum RP, so I'm quite comfortable writing things out. I'm looking forward to roleplaying as her, so the sort of game you're looking for sounds like the sort of game I'm looking for, too.
@hennyremy610 - Well, maybe you could tell us a bit about yourself as a player so we could work out whether or not we're all a good fit for each other?
@democralypse - Indeed, and I'd like it if we had two other players besides ourselves, too. But let's not get ahead of ourselves. Once we have enough *players,* we can narrow the search by making a second topic that's just "looking for DM." Or we could even just decide on what online platform we want to use to play the game, like Roll20 maybe (I do have an account over there), and request a DM on their forums instead of on this one. I know there's a lot of pay-to-play, but that seems like something best left for after we've had some experience and decided how much that experience was worth to us.

That would be great! Unfortunately we will still need a DM hopefully someone will take pity on us new players.

Newbie here - I'm in the eastern time zone as well (NJ) and would interested.
Just to reiterate - I am an extreme newbie to D&D...although a pc/console gamer for a long time.
I'm new as well and would love to get in with a beginner group. I am also on the east coast to play.
I'm interested. I can do evening and weekends just as long as its flexible
