By "nocturnals" I mean precisely what it says on the tin: people who are nocturnal. (Though I guess if your timezone is conveniently different from mine, that works too.) I recently lined up a new job for myself that is overnight-shift and as you might expect, that's going to make the traditional Dungeons & Dragons scheduling window of "that time you 9-to-5 normies all get home" a little difficult to schedule for. So I'm looking for players who are used to being awake through the night and sleeping during the day, and are therefore open to playing at odd hours like 7:30 AM EST (which would mean 11:30 AM GMT). That's about an hour after I expect to be getting off work; in other words, it's an hour that I can reliably schedule for.
I don't yet know what my work schedule is going to look like in terms of days, except that I'm always going to be home on Monday nights because I have another job to work on Tuesdays. So once I know that and have some people who are interested, we can figure out who's available when and try to schedule something that's good for the whole group.
I am primarily interested in being a player. If the group sticks together past one campaign I'll happily rotate out and be the Dungeon Master for a future campaign, since I'm actually interested in putting together a campaign of my own (I'm an amateur writer). But my imagination is fixated on characters and roleplay as an adventurer right now, so that's where I'm at. So I'm certainly looking for someone who's willing to DM as well.
I'm a newbie to D&D, as I said; but I'm quite familiar with D&D stuff through secondary sources (a whole bunch of Forgotten Realms novels, CRPGs like Baldur's Gate and Icewind Dale, and more recently some marathon sessions of Critical Role). I've created multiple characters in the past and have recently put time into creating one for D&D Beyond; I am most interested in playing a campaign with that character. She has been written under the assumption that her backstory is in the Forgotten Realms setting and in the Sword Coast area, as that's what I'm most familiar with, but it wouldn't be difficult to adjust her for other settings so long as "third daughter of a noble family scandalously flees her arranged marriage to restore her family's name as a line descended from heroes" isn't a concept incompatible with the setting.
I'm not fussy about which service we use to play as long as I don't have to pay for it (like I said, just got a new job... under a bit of, y'know, financial stress). I personally own the Player's Handbook, Dungeon Master's Guide, Monster Manual, and Sword Coast Adventurer's Guide (physical mostly, though I do have the Player's Handbook here on Beyond too thanks to the discount that came with the Essentials Kit).
I don't mind playing with a larger group if the cards fall together that way, and I have no preference as to whether the campaigns are combat-focused or not, but I *am* interested in roleplaying my characters so if you're very much focused on just dicerolling your way through dungeon-delves and tactical encounters and aren't so into the story stuff... you and I might not be a great fit for each other.
It might end up being that those of us who would prefer voice or video play have to make a concession and do this text-only as well, given that the sort of people who'd be able to play at the times we're looking at might have sleeping households to think about and won't want to make a ton of noise.
If all of that sounds okay to y'all, let me know if you're interested and we can set something up to talk out a schedule.
EDIT: I forgot to put a note about this being an LGBT friendly game, so I guess I should put that in now. If you're the type who has a problem with LGBT players, then you probably aren't a good fit. *waves goodbye*
Hey there! I’m also a nocturnal somewhat newbie looking for an lgbtq friendly group. I’ve got multiple books I’ve combed through and also watched quite a few actual play shows. I’ve been itching for a while now to be part of a dnd group but I’m the past all the ones I’ve tried to join either tell thru or smth came up. I get off work at about 5am cst and I normall go to bed between 7-9 but I could certainly delay sleep a couple hours on session days! My best days of availability tho right now are Tuesday through Thursday.
While I Would prefer to be a player to start with I do also want to eventually do some DMing as I have loads of ideas I’d love to play around. I’m also a bit of a writer and I love both character building and world building so dnd really is perfect for me.
If you think I’d be compatible for your group feel free to hit me up on discord: Ellisandra#1313
Hey, I'm a newbie too and it would be ideal to play around that time. At the moment, I'm free pretty much all the time, and starting at 11:30 GMT would be perfect.
I'd rather be a player if that's ok.
If you're interested, feel free to message me here or on Discord: BigSaltyHam#9498
Hey, I live in a timezone which works great with your timings (GMT + 5:30) so I'd love to play with you, preferably on weekends. I am quite new to D&D too and have only played 1 session of 1 campaign. However, I've been dabbling around on D&D beyond and creating random characters which I'd love to play with.
I might move to UK (GMT+1) or Australia (GMT+10) in September 2021 and February 2022 respectively (if immigration loosens up due to COVID-19); I'm currently in a place where the time zone is GMT+7. If it's okay with you, I'd prefer Saturdays, if possible. As for experience, I have none at all, though I have created a character. So if you'd have me, my discord is Comrade Cross#4119.
