Storm King Hekaton is "mysteriously absent from the Forgotten Realms, leaving the Giant races he usually holds in check free to unleash an invasion across the realm. With Frost Giants raiding the Sword Coast, the cities of the Cloud Giants appearing above Baldur’s Gate, and Fire Giants assaulting the deserts, the small folk of Faerun have to band together before they’re all crushed beneath the heel of the Giant races... both figuratively and literally". This is a very open ended campaign so player backstory and input will be prominent throughout the campaign.
Why pay to play?
There simply aren't enough DMs to run free games for the ever-increasing number of people who would like to play D&D online. Free games fill up fast, but often end just as quickly because there is no investment by the players and no incentive for the DM to commit long term.
Here are some of the reasons why a game run by a professional DM can provide a superior experience for players who are looking to relax and have fun playing with the same group every week:
A paid DM has the incentive to show up prepared and provide an outstanding gaming experience week after week.
Charging a small fee per person virtually eliminates busted games due to player no-shows.
People who are willing to pay a modest fee tend to approach the game with a more mature attitude, and don't quit impulsively when something doesn't go their way.
About me: I can't claim to have 20 plus years experience running games but I can claim that ever since middle school I've had a passion for telling stories whether that would be in drama club or at summer camps around the campfire. I absolutely love dming and wish to turn it into my full-time job. I'm always passionate about my games and believe that characters should be the one to drive the story and the DM merely paints the picture and sets the scene for the characters. I have 3 years experience running games from one shots to full campaigns. I WORK FOR THE PLAYERS! I strongly believe in this sentence and follow it in every game.
