The Fall changed the world as it was known nearly a thousand years ago when the sky fell and the world was obliterated. Millions were killed, millions more starved, and only the strongest survived. Driven into the dark and hidden recesses of the earth, the human race was pushed to the brink of extinction and beyond.Generation after generation battled famine and pestilence. All of society had crumbled for eons, with no countries, no governments, no worth. Nothing but hundreds of thousands of miles of unforgiving and destroyed landscape. The only thing that reigned was brutal anarchy where only the strongest individuals could survive in these times. And many didn't. The elements ruled the surface, untouched and uncountered.
Then the world began to grow again. Slowly, almost with a timid sense of apprehension, the land began to heal itself. The harsh, tawny, wind-blown badlands made way to green, lush, savannahs, far-reaching mountain ranges, and lakes and streams full of life-giving water. And with this change, the humans re-emerged, crawling out of their hiding places, seeking the rose-colored skies. But they had changed.During those eons, the human race was twisted, altered, changed into something different, something new. And along with the changes to the people were the change to the very fibers of nature itself with the emergence of magic.
Now, almost seven hundred years after the re-emergence of the races, the world has changed again. Now, the continent of Amerios has grown, developed and prospered. While the Amerios continent has been divided between the Calius monarchy, the Tensis Empire, Y'lstun Mountains, and the El'Adon Desert, there's currently peace with one another, for the moment.
Magic became a palpable force in the world only two hundred years ago, shaping the creatures, and imbuing the people and land with its essence. Magic may be new and relatively rare, but holds world-changing power and those that wield it are both respected and feared. Mages are the trained and respected, with the sorcerers being the wild and unpredictable, and the corrupt witches and warlocks are feared and warded against, becoming the specters to bring wayward children home at night.
Riches are out there, hidden amongst the ruins of the fallen civilizations, waiting to be sought and found by those brave or desperate enough to seek them out. The world continues to be shaped, changing frequently, and always seeking the brave, the peerless, the ruthless.
We are looking for several new players to join our little group. This is a brand new campaign and will be starting at low level and continuing as long as the story takes us. Looking to play weekly, but the night has not yet been finalized. I have been a DM on and off for many, many years and fully believe in the rule of cool more so than RAW. I find myself being more of a narrator, allowing the players to sculpt the story we're telling within the context of the world I am building with your help.
Game: D&D 5e Group type: Online (Discord for Audio/Video, Foundry VTT for gameplay) Experience: Any. But must be willing to RP (voice acting not required). Solid, reliable, mature players with great sense of humor wanted. Location/Timezone: CST Schedule: Weekly 7:30-11:30pm CST (day TBD) Roles sought: Up to 4-5 players. New, experienced, or Veterans Game style: Narrative with Rule of Cool over RAW. Evenly split between RP, Exploration, and Combat
We are playing in the Foundry VTT which integrates seemlessly with DnD Beyond, making character creation and sharing a breeze. Because of the cost of assets and modules and access to other books and such, I am asking that each player pay $5/session to help offset some of these costs.
If you have questions, please ask here, or direct message me on Discord at Jhereg_Assassin#8448 (fastest response)
If interested in joining, please answer the following questions below: 1) How long have you been playing DnD 5e? 2) Are you familiar with playing on Foundry VTT? If yes, how long? If no, are you willing to learn? 3) What nights (7:30pm - 11:30pm CST) are best for you? 4) What is your most memorable RP session for one of your PCs? 5) What are you looking to get out of joining this campaign? 6) What is your PC idea? (if you already have created, please share DnD Beyond link)
Been playing with this guy for a while and, as a player and as dm, he is top-notch. If you are looking for a fun game in an interesting setting with good people. There are few fellow nerds I could recommend higher than Jhereg
1) I have a few d&d campaigns under my belt, though I haven't played for more than a year or so.
2) No, but I do have experience playing on Roll20, and am more than willing to learn Foundry's system
3) Wednesday, Thursday, and Sundays are best for me personally
4) It probably wasn't a huge deal, but one of my favorite memories from my recent games was when my tiny, blind wizard became the thief of our game
5) I just really want a fun social experience, and a chance to play through my character
6) I would want to play a m!half-elf horizon walker/peace domain cleric multiclass. (I don't know if you would allow multiclassing, and you didn't mention clerics in your description, but that's this particular character. I do have a few others in reserve if this one isn't viable to your setting)
Glad to hear your interested. Yes, we're still interviewing different players to get a feel for personalities meshing with the rest of the group, and also best play days.
As for multi-classing, yes, definitely allow it. As for races, all races from the core books are allowed, however, anything outside of the PHB would be considered an "odd" or "unique" race depending on how outlandish we went. Half-Elf isn't a problem at all.
If you want to private message me your discord name, I can invite you to our "interview" server and let you meet a couple of the other players.
