Game: D&D 5e Group type: Online. Foundry VTT + Discord for voice. Off-session RP via discord. Location/Timezone: GMT +1 Schedule: weekly sessions Sundays 1800-2200 GMT+1. Session 0 in the near future and campaign start end of august, TBD. Slots available: 1 Game style: Horror themed setting, roleplay-heavy. See description.
Greetings I’m Syx, 41 years of age, and I will be your benevolent DM for the horrorfest of curse of Strahd. This is a completely free game, you repay me with showing interest and hopefully having a good (scary) time. We are a group of players that have been playing on roll20 and are now switching to foundry. We are looking to add one more mature player to our base of friendly boys and girl. We are specifically looking for people who enjoy RP (both in-session and out), do not powergame, uses setbacks as a tool for character development and who dislikes metagaming.
This campaign will be a heavily modified and expanded Curse of Strahd with mature content and extreme horror themes, so player beware. Due to the campaign setting only human (or variant) will be allowed. Campaign has not started. If this sounds like your cup of tea post some information about yourself, your playstyle, what you like/dislike in a game, your experience and any other fun tidbits you deem appropriate. I would like you to include a background and personality of a character you have or wish to play, just to get an idea. This will not necessarily be what you end up with for this campaign.
Requirements:
- Age 30+
- A working PC + headset and a stable connection capable of running smoothly.
- willingness to commit to a long campaign (1 year +), staying in character and being a team player.
- Enjoy immersion in the world and your character and accept that narrative progression will be more important than the “xp and loot” mentality of videogames.
- You have not read or played through Curse of Strahd.
This will not be a first come first served as we are looking for the right player for the group. Please include your discord ID and if applicable I will contact you directly through there.
40+ player and dm. started on 2e, dabbled with 5e and like it a lot in spite of myself.
I like to role play, like interesting characters and unusual encounters. Pretty equally comfortable with silly and serious. Although I probably lean a touch more toward serious story lines and characters, it's a game. I don't get upset or take it personally when something bad happens to my character, and, especially in Ravenloft, I would expect some struggle.
I'm fine just playing and won't argue about rules. I'm not shy asking about variations, if they fit the character. But I don't get bent put of shape if it doesn't fit what you're building.
I'm only indirectly familiar with Ravenloft from the novels waaay back and some of the 3.5 and 2e campaign setting stuff. I've never really run or played a campaign.
My only dislike is a group or player who can't have fun without being a troll. Like it's great to be in character and do what makes sense for that character even if it's not the 'smart' thing. I mean more the type who gets upset and sulky when they aren't at the center of every session.
Long term on Sunday evenings is ideal for me :)

For a character concept...I always kind of like the innocent/naive cleric or paladin. Overly idealistic. But it might be a little more fun to go outside of my first impulse and play someone more pragmatic and jaded. Already a little worn down....haha that could fit any class really.
This is definately interesting to me. I have heard such good things about Curse of Strahd, and have only had 3 sessions in a highly modified/homebrewed campaign before it fizzled out.
I meet all of your requirements and I don't mind playing a human if that is one of the requirements. (I usually perfer playing more out there races but I'm good with just about anything.) I don't mind what class I play either. While I do own the Curse of Stradh book here on D&D beyond, I actively don't read the adventure books in case I do become a player in a campaing unless I plan on running them myself.
I don't work Sundays so I'm always free. As for my experience, I've been playing D&D for a little over a year now, and play in multiple campaigns through the week and DM 2 of them. If you want to know anything more about me feel free to hit me up on my Discord. Farseer#7199
Also, (and I do not expect this to have any bearing on why you may or may not choose me, just an FYI kind of thing) I can content share any of the subclasses for any of the other players to use here on D&D beyond for the their character sheets.
