I draw from the canon of the entire breath of DND as it is all built on each-other. Utilize Forgotten Realms as the starting off point but let players grow organically. You choose the adventures you go on. There are no "level" barriers but with that said choose with care, I invest time in your characters backstory and historical effects on the worlds and potentially the multiverse.
Game: D&D 5+, with 3.x details Setting: FR 5e with Sword Coast as the kick-off location, normally Neverwinter area Post 1399DR Experience: 2+ Years but the more seasoned the better Location: Based in Sacramento, California USA but willing to gather a few gaming groups that are alike via Web/Roll20/Foundry or Zoom/Sky - If I have enough local respondents I can do a game intro at one of the local game stores in a face to face manner that could lead to residence play spot but I want to make sure that all players are able to "be present" even if that's via video conferencing and some virtual table top tools. Availability: Open right now to possibly 3 groups of 4-6 players once a week or every other week. Time: after 1pm and as late as 2am PST, will discussed on pre-session gathering. Note: Must be responsive to emails/texts or your preferred method of communication as communications is key to all interactions Game Style: Variable. Spotlight on PC rotating with Roleplay centric that can lead to Martial / Combat encounters Crunchy: every 5 levels there is a PC review for detail and accuracy as I want you to manage your own PC and only really want to know the "known" storyline of your PC and during the review I make sure that I have story arch's in play for your PC as well as the overall party and a few side trips. That said keeping the game balanced is not my main focus it a matter of making sure that any min maxed PC has the corresponding flaws, blind spots, and requiems in his/her past to make there focus storyline relevant.

Hello, pretty new to this site, gave up on playing dnd until I started listening to campaign podcasts at work. I would love to join, I haven't played more than a couple of sessions in a few years, just couldn't keep a group together after highschool. I might be a little rustier than what you're looking for, but I've had a couple of character ideas for a while. finding a dm that wants to actually integrate the PCs into the world has been harder than I thought. I'm finding this thread doing a search for "Sacramento," since I'm in the general vicinity. I'm not sure if you're still seeking players for anything, but if you are, I may like to participate! I'm a somewhat older player (45), with a lot of D&D experience under my belt. I love creating characters with some mysteries or secrets in their background, working with the GM to develop their overall narrative story arc in the campaign as a whole. I always try to fit in with the existing group, filling whatever roles are lacking in the party, whether that be martial or mystical, perceptive or persuasive, combative or contemplative. My availability is pretty flexible, if there are groups I might be able to join, either online or in person (again, based in Sacramento CA).
