Theme: Homebrewed 18+ dark fantasy isekai adventure inspired by litrpg concepts. This is NOT an anime-themed campaign. The isekai concept is borrowed, nothing more. It does not take place in any D&D worlds and many creatures are influenced by European folklore, as such they will be very different to their D&D counterparts.
Concepts: The key concept of this campaign is the players finding out about their new home. You do not know anything about this world, it’s inhabitants or the dangers that dwell within it. You are roleplaying as a modern Earthling that is inhabiting the body of a fantasy adventurer who would like to know what the hell happened to them, why they were sent here and optionally: how they could get back to Earth.
Style: This one’s completely up to the players. I find combat to be a necessity to the story, but the main goal should always be to roleplay your characters to your fullest extent in order to create a fantastic journey.
Combat is always optional should the players wish it. If you want to fight, you’ll get your fights. Due to Foundry’s automation, combat will be lightning fast and even large amounts of enemies will finish their turns within a matter of seconds.
Needless to say, exploration will be present. You know nothing about the world, so you’ll probably be doing a lot of asking and exploring. I know most players aren’t big on lore, so the bare necessary information will make do here.
When/Where: Saturdays at 3:00-6:00PM NZST, Discord and Foundry VTT. You do not need to own Foundry VTT. Player accounts are free. Times are not negotiable.
This campaign will be slightly different to what you’re used to. Instead of immediately starting off in Rathnia, a continent on a fictional world filled with fantasy, magic and adventure; the players will first begin as mundane 21st century humans on Earth. Needless to say, your Earthling character will be taken against their will to the above mentioned location promptly at the beginning of our first session, where they will manifest their consciousness inside a body with a race and class of your choosing.
For simplicity’s sake, you are the Earthling and the fantasy body that you inhabit is your “host”.
Please create a backstory for your host. You will not possess any of their memories, but other characters may recognize them and you may have a chance to uncover their past.
Although I will be giving minimal information about Rathnia, I am obliged to let the players know about race relations, alignments and how the average Rathnian would perceive the player depending on their race. The race categories here essentially serve as factions.
Homebrewed races and races that are different to their D&D counterparts are highlighted in bold.
Race Factions:
“Human” Races (The following races are tolerated by humans, the most populated race of Rathnia. They have kill on sight tendencies towards fey. The Night War ended over a century ago, and no fey have been sighted since. Your character’s head must be human-like in order for you to qualify for this race category.)
Aasimar
Dwarf
Half-Elf
Half-Orc
Half-Dragon(subrace of Dragonborn)
Dhamphir
Halfling
Human
Tiefling
Fey Races(Almost all fey are pure evil and malevolent, or at least they are perceived as such by other non-Fey races. We will be getting into some very grisly details about what they do to those they consider lesser than themselves.)
Elf
Gnome(Appearance only)
Fairy
Changeling
Goblin
Kobold
Satyr
Centaur
Draconic Races(Gotta explain this one in game. It’s a bit complicated.)
Dragonborn
Demihuman races(The dirt beneath shoes. Demihumans are considered to be trash by almost all non-demihuman races. Created by the Fey to be used as shock troops against humans during the Night War, many were enslaved by the opposing humans as a result. To this day, many demihuman POW’s descendants serve humans as slave labour. Due to their poor treatment at the hands of other Rathnians, demihumans are for the large part on good terms with each other. Demihumans do not possess any human characteristics other than their bipedal body structures.)
Aarakocra
Minotaur
Tabaxi
Rabbitfolk
Owlfolk
Lizardfolk
Kenku
Tortle
Naga
Minotaur
Leonin
Loxodon
Aven
Khenra
Locathath
Tortle
Monstrous Races(Feared more than hated by most. Still treated as monsters.)
Orc
Yuan-Ti Pureblood
Grung
Bugbear
Elemental Races(No one holds shared opinions on these guys. Some love em, some hate em. Some wanna eat em, some wanna worship em.)
Kalashtar
Firebolg
Genasi
Goliath
Triton
Nightwalker Races(A mixture of undead and tainted races. Everyone wants to do them in.)
Skeleton
Reborn
Vampire
Shifter
Hexblood
Construct Races
Warforged(Warforged are animated suits of armor that wander the Khirubian deserts. They are hunted by a hostile nomadic tribe known as “Hard Shells” by outsiders. Hard Shells kill Warforged for their shamanic rituals, where they create incredibly durable carapaces using the enchanted metal from Warforged armor as ingredients. After their coming of age ceremony, male members of the Hard Shell tribe wear the carapace for life, only taking it off during their sacred mating rituals. The carapace is parasitic in nature, requiring periodic sustenance in the form of it’s user’s lifeforce. The average male Hard Shell has a lifespan of 30 years. By the end of their short life, they will partake in another coming of age ceremony one last time; where their sons will partake in a battle royale for the right to wear their father’s carapace; after which the victor will personally kill their father and take claim over the carapace.
It is not common for Warforged hunts to occur, only when a carapace is lost or destroyed before it can be passed on, does another hunt begin.
You can play as either a Warforged or a Hard Shell. Other than flavor there is no noticeable difference)
Spacefaring Races(Straight up aliens. Nobody has ever encountered them before.)

Without further ado, here is an excerpt from the event that serves as impetus to the campaign:
“As you step past the elevator doors, pondering upon the future of your eventless life; you are greeted by a quadruplet of weary stares. The four individuals move to the side, and you gingerly squeeze yourself into what little room remains. The doors begin to close shut, but not before one last finely-dressed applicant dashes between the crevice; almost bulldozing himself into the small crowd. He repositions himself, much to your annoyance; and as his balding red hair brushes against your nostrils, he procures a finely crafted silver pocket watch from the left pocket of his frock coat- a strange choice of attire for the scorching heat of Miami. An ethereal white moth lands upon the tip of the watch’s hour hand, striking a deep sense of deja vu into the back of your mind. Before you can query the stranger upon his idiosyncrasy, your attention is diverted to the sudden ringing of the elevator’s down arrow, and without further explanation; the lights go out and the ground gives way simultaneously- plummeting the inhabitants of the elevator into a chorus of screams and panic as the void envelopes them completely.
You brace yourself for what you can only hope to be a sudden and painless death, but it doesn’t come, the descent doesn’t conclude; not even after several long and agonizing seconds. Abruptly, a solemn voice interrupts your thoughts:“Take my hand child, and let the time flow through you.” A bright glowing white hand explodes into the void, like a blazing comet; it races towards you- the blindening radiance burning its way through your eye sockets. You feel a tight grip take hold upon your left hand, and without further warning; your mind slowly fades to nothing, empty of thoughts as it becomes engulfed in a chasm of alabaster gleam.
When your eyelids finally part, the scenery that greets you can only be described as alien at best…
Applications: I’ve learnt from experience that the players matter more than the DM. I’ll need to have a voice chat with all of the applicants before I can decide the most suitable members for the party. Synergy is key here, if the players don’t get along well; the campaigns over before it even begins.
If you’re interested and 18+, tell me:

Hello! I have a group of four/five people who are looking for a new DM! We're fairly new players with some to little experience, if you're interested in meeting us, please contact TheOreo#6311!
Hi! I’m new to this, but I’ve fallen in love with DnD through dimension 20 and I have always had a passion for storytelling. I’d really love a chance to play.
I am looking for a good story, maybe a challenging mystery, and companions that like to have a bit of fun along the way.
I don’t have enough experience to say for sure, but I would say I want a dm who will fully lean in to world building and will really pull me into the story.
Hello!! My name is Laika, I'm 19. I'm an upbeat person, who tries to make the best of being mostly bedbound due to chronic illess.
I've loved DnD for a long time and played it on and off for years, perhaps three or four by now? I'm proficient (lol) in it, and don't need any instructions on the rules.
When playing DnD, I especially love roleplaying and interacting with the world, but I also love character creation and background building!
Do: be LGBTQ+ friendly, love the player characters and their story and be invested in them, and listen to what the players want to get out of the characters and story!
Don't: allow infighting between the players (between characters is okay!), purposefully try to hurt characters because of issues with players, avoid communication!
You can find me at @hybrid signal#2559 on discord!
