Hello D&DBeyond folks, we are currently looking for 1-3 players for an ongoing homebrew campaign of three existing players. We are at level 3, so there will not be too much catching up to do. Below, I have the original story hook/introduction to the campaign:
The nation state of Caeadim has always championed order, justice, and the strict sanction of magic, but in recent years conditions have become insufferable. As a result of rising tensions with the Gorgothian Empire to the East, anti-magic sentiments have been running dangerously high in the upper castes of Caeadim. In response, the throne has issued increasingly intrusive and intolerant mandates cracking down on any individuals who do not perfectly conform to the nation’s ideals of propriety, arresting and making an example out of mages and other magic-touched creatures. The persecution has been the worst in the capital, the gleaming and illustrious Great City of Caeadim, which unfortunately was until recently the home of the vast majority of magical folk in the nation.
In response to what seems to be a systemic purging of these magical folk, offensively dubbed “Shinies,” the targeted groups have been using any means in their power to escape judgement from the throne. Naturally, brigadiers have sprung up along the coast, offering illicit passage out of the nation and across the Western Sea to the fabled Blue Flame Isles, a lawless haven for criminals, outcasts, and anyone else looking to start a new life. The throne, while aware of this activity on the western port of the Great City, seems to -- for the moment, at least -- be looking the other way, perhaps preferring to quietly exile their unwanted than have genocide taint its shining reputation.

We will begin our adventure aboard one of the many transport ships sailing over the Western sea, filled with all types of strange and unusual folk packed like sardines in the lower deck. These individuals have agreed to pay the hefty sum to embark on the long journey to the Blue Flame Isles for various reasons, from those hoping for a new start in a budding territory ripe with opportunity, to those fleeing desperately from persecution.
As we are currently in the middle of an investigation involving fishermen disappearing off of Waterdeep's southeast coast, those of you who are selected will speak with me separately in order to best introduce your character into the plot in a seamless and compelling way.
