If it’s not game-breaking, players should be free to make characters they feel comfortable with. This means they should have relative free reign in designing every aspect of their character. Players should, for instance, be able to freely choose the race and gender of their characters without restriction.
It is understandable that some rules may be needed, but they should be implemented with as much freedom for the players as possible. Refusing a bizarre homebrew that gives someone the ability to one-hit-kill the Tarrasque at level 1 is understandable. Demanding that they change their race or that characters be the same gender as the player is not.
Flexible Source Material
It is inevitable that different Dungeon Masters are going to have different preferences when it comes to which sourcebooks are used. However, they should still be flexible when it comes to player decisions. While some restrictions may be needed or some books may be considered more important sources, I don’t want to see any DMs making rules like “you can only use the Players’ Handbook and nothing else.”

Preferences
Homebrew Vs. official content
We’re reasonably open to either direction. I do have some questions about it but that is mainly so we have a clear idea of what we’re getting into.
Preferred Game Style
A good story is preferred, with a decent balance between roleplay and combat as well as good opportunities for character development. Being able to incorporate backstories into the main story is also a bonus.
Platforms
A platform like Roll20 or something similar that can be used to visualize the game is preferred, especially for combat.
Scheduling
Sessions should be around 2-4 hours at most, preferably in the range of 11:00 AM-4:00 PM EST. Monday, Wednesday, and Friday are the best times. Biweekly sessions are preferred.
Application Form for DM:

How much experience do you have as a DM?
Time Zone
Would you like to run a module or an original story?
I’m open to both options. This is mainly to get an idea of what to expect if I choose you.
Will the game be based on official or original content?
Some DM’s like to draw on the official content, others like to make their own lore, and some like to use a bit of both. What do you prefer to do? For example, what Pantheon are you using? Are you using the official gods of Dungeons and Dragons lore, mythology (i.e. Greek, Egyptian, Norse, Celtic), a completely original one, or some combination thereof?
Outline of your DM’ing style:
Nothing too fancy, just an idea what kind of game you like to run.
What are your preferred sources for DND?
Can you provide a short outline of the game’s Premise?
What is your preferred platform? Do you like to use theater of the mind or would you rather use Roll20 to visualize the game?
What you’re looking for in a game: Fun adventure's, friendly player's, & good old fashion good time!
Character Concept
Name: Laux
Gender: Male
Race: Dhampir
Class: Paladin/Oathbreaker
Rough Description: Coming from Noble birth I joined the knights order to serve and become a Paladin like my father before me, I wanted to serve as a kings guard and protect what I thought was holy and sacred. We were escorting our King from Baldur's Gate to Waterdeep and were ambushed, I was bitten and become very Ill, I was left for dead. When I come to I was greeted by a cleric that found me badly wounded and he mended my wounds and helped me heal. After I woke the Cleric gave me some information about who and what attacked us, gave me his old supplies, a suit of armor, shield, and sword. Along with a chariot/draft horse. This cleric told me to go in the name of the Lord and I told him my Oath is no longer and I shall choose my own way and now I'm what they call an Oathbreaker. But can be altered for what the DM prefers or wants.
What you’re looking for in a game: Just a good time, meet some folks, have some laughs.
Character Concept
Name: Timmy Thumbtack (Lil' Fella)
Gender: Male
Race: Gnome
Class: Bard
Rough Description: Son of the not-so-famous inventor of the thumbtack, Timmy dedicated the inventive talents of his people to the pursuit of a sick beat to compliment his sick (and family friendly) flow. With the help of his Harmonicanizer (TM.), he has set out to find the perfect sounds from across the land and will do whatever it takes to get his demo...songbooks...in the hands if a potentially soulless record company that will exploit him for everything he's worth in exchange for the Thumbtack name going down in history. If desperate enough for cash, he is willing to do detective work...but he can't be the bad cop. It breaks his heart.
DND Experience: Been playing consistently in a few campaigns over the past year, but have been playing since high school on and off.
What you’re looking for in a game: I'm looking to create some cool connections with fellow DnD players and have a fun game, I want to experience different styles of play and worlds and improve on my own roleplaying style!
Character Concept
Name: Glass
Gender: Non-binary (He/They)
Race: Changeling
Class: Bard (College TBA)
Rough Description: Raised as a lone changeling in a small settlement, Glass leaves as a young adult after an ill-fated accident took the life of their childhood friend. Bearing the burden of their beloved kenku friend's last wishes, Glass sets out to find their fortune outside the mountain ranges of their homeland and fulfill the kenku's dream, creating a mask mimicking their late friend so that she might in a way fulfill it herself, and perhaps finding their own voice and purpose in doing so.
I haven't played a changeling yet either but I want to try it out! I'm also open to changing my character since I have multiple character concepts piled up! I can fill any missing roles in the party dynamic, if need be!

So a dhampir is like a vampire? I'm not super familiar with that race so I'm just making sure I correctly understand the idea you're pitching.
There's several concepts with a dhampir, they're born a vampire, or bitten and turned, they don't crave blood, but have super powers.
I have an update! WE HAVE A DM and some idea of what we're doing, so now we just need players!
We are looking at doing a module combined with homebrew material. The exact storyline has not yet been determined but we have seven possible choices:
Most source material is permitted. All races are allowed except for grung.
