A link to a completed character sheet at level 2 WITH a backstory: https://ddb.ac/characters/60490990/yp81wo Backstory is in the notes tab. I can always add NPC names and the like later but this is a good base.

I included in the original post what to include in your application. Just post it to this forum when you've completed it. It's at the bottom of the main post.
Once you make your character, on your character sheet next to your name there should either be a gear icon or manage button. Click that and there should be a place where you can obtain the link to your character sheet.
Hi, I would like to join, but am curious if it would be possible to make a certain type of character and if it would fit into your campaign since they would be a dhampir from Ravenloft. Discord may be the best place for me to discuss this
Add my discord and we can talk about it further there. I'm fine with a dhampir. Keep in mind monsterous type races can be seen in a poor light. Being from Ravenloft might be a stretch for this world, but thats something we can discuss!
Updating the main info, but please send your character backgrounds to me via D&DBeyond PM or Discord message. I cannot view the notes section of your characters unless you are in the campaign that I have setup. That slipped my mind.
- Shander "Ruse" Gildenhart, a human Trickery cleric - Some people call me Shander Gildenhart, but my associates call me Ruse. I had grown up on the streets as a young lad, abandoned by my mother, and the only orphanage in the city at maximum capacity, resulting in my childhood have the tragic backdrop of the streets. It was soon after I started the transition from boy to man when I attempted to pickpocket the compartments of a priest's robes, hoping to get a small portion of his tithes. This priest reacted quickly, catching my hand - I awaited the quick rap across the face that had caught me only a handful of times before. And it was that moment that changed my life - the moment he smirked at me and said to me words that affected me to my very core. Those words? "You want to learn some real tricks, kid?" It was then that the Priest dragged me against my will to his temple, where he revealed to me that his priesthood was all a farce, and his flock and their tithes were doing nothing more than lining his pockets. He called it the ultimate grift, and saw that I had potential as well. It was then that he introduced me to the Great Thief, the Masters of Masks, the Lord of Trickery, of whom quickly became my accepted deity as well. He trained me diligently, honing my own talents, as well as the gifts that my new god offered me through our divine connection. Years later, the priest found himself on his deathbed, and I stayed by his side as his final minutes wound down. He told me that my apprenticeship was over, and I was now to go into the world the bring glory to our god through my misdeeds, through my tricks and my deceits and my general pursuit of subverting established power structures that be. And years after I set out on my own series of grifts, I acquired the pseudonym of "Ruse," known for my long cons and clever plans. But my time has now come to hone my gifts and gain a deeper connection with my god.

My favorite color is black, like my soul.
Favorite baked good..cheesecake is baked, right? I also get baked myself ayyyyy
Your name/Alias: K (It's easier to say and spell than my unpronounceable Korean name) Your pronouns: he/him, though I'm also comfortable with they/them Years of experience: 15 years playing tabletop of various kinds, played 5E since the playtest Discord name: Catastronaut#3105 Secret stuff: "And those who were seen dancing were thought to be insane by those who could not hear the music." Gray brownies? cheesecake? cheesecake brownies. Oh wait, is pizza a baked good? I'm indecisive and I like food. Humans. Or if you think that doesn't count, octopus.
...I have a teensy problem. I want to run a wizard, but I can't add Chromatic Orb to the character's spell list. It's a basic spell, straight out of the PHB. What's up, D&DB? You're making me downright nostalgic for those good old days when we used lined notebook paper for our character sheets, and blank sheets of newsprint and magic markers for maps. Or am I (again) missing something obvious?
Never mind the fact that my character can't afford the 50gp diamond; we'll have to work with that as it is. But I can't even add the spell. Color me confused.
Meanwhile, thank you for everyone's patience. I've played the game for years, but D&DB has a bit of a learning curve to navigate, it seems.

Now what do I do? I already own the books, by which I mean your basic printed and bound copies, which exist in meat-space. Am I the only one who hasn't shelled out for the virtual copies in D&DB? Because, to be honest, I really don't want to pay for the book twice.
Been having trouble with D&D Beyond, although that may be because I have *two* accounts. I'd like to run a Dwarven Bard. I'm not finished with the character sheet yet, but if you want a quick preview, it's here: ddb.ac/characters/61978004/GqDWu1. The backstory is thin -- been busy prepping a presentation. I'll get the rest of that to you by tomorrow.
(Note: apparently the builder doesn't like it when you switch races, I got two racial bonuses when I shifted from Hill to Mountain Dwarf. If I have to, I'll re-enter it later.)

Not quite what I meant. Did I mention that I was very new to D&D Beyond? Never mind, I'll ask other people how to do this...
