Game: D&D 5e Group type: Face-to-face (Vaccination required, unless you have a genuine medical exemption--I will ask everyone to disclose their vaccination status and show their vaccine cards during Session Zero. I'm sorry for the privacy intrusion, but I want every player to be on the same page and be able to trust that no one else is endangering anyone else when we meet.) Experience: A few years Location: South San Francisco Bay Area. I don't have a car so I am relatively limited in my transportation options. If you have a car it will help if you can be flexible with the location. Schedule: TBD once I have enough interested players. Ideal times include Friday evenings, Saturday evenings, and Sunday afternoons. Weekday evenings can also work. In any case, the goal would be to commit to a fixed, repeating schedule, either biweekly or weekly depending on the frequency we want. I would prefer to have regularly scheduled meetings that we cancel occasionally if we really need to rather than constantly making scheduling polls to work around people's schedules. I'm aiming to start playing after the New Year begins, but we can organize and work on character development and worldbuilding together before that happens. Roles sought: Two to four players, depending on interest. I'm looking for motivation and commitment more than experience or game knowledge, though of course that helps. I think three or four players is ideal, but I'd be totally happy DMing with as few as two committed players (you might get a sidekick character to play in that case). Game style: Casual, but committed--I like an even mix of tactical combat challenges and role-playing. My DMing style is less theatrical and more descriptive--you especially might enjoy my style if you like references to real-world history and culture. Additional information:
I am nonbinary/agender (I use they/them pronouns) and am looking to run an explicitly LGBTQ+ inclusive group. People of all gender identities and sexual orientations are welcome, but respect (both in the game and out of game) is essential. That includes, among other things, respecting people's personal pronouns and boundaries. I will absolutely not hesitate to kick anyone out of the group for creating a hostile environment.
You must be an adult, 18 years or older, to join the campaign. No minors allowed, sorry!
I have/will have a Master subscription on D&D Beyond and will provide content sharing for the books I have (PHB, XGtE, TCoE). No need to buy books!
Setting-wise, I am planning to create a homebrew setting loosely inspired by East Asia in the late 19th and early 20th-centuries. Some possible themes might be tradition vs. modernity, self-determination vs. imperialism, conservation vs. exploitation--the sort of things you might appreciate if you're a fellow history nerd ;)
If you are interested, you should: Send me a private message. Some things you should include in your message are:
Your first name, age, and pronouns
A positive acknowledgement of the vaccination requirement and our group's goal of LGBTQ+ inclusion
A short summary of your D&D experience
The answers to these questions:
What makes you interested in playing this particular campaign?
What sort of character are you interested in building? (A class and a general theme/personality would be great.)
Once I have some interest I will set up a Discord group where we can discuss the game further and make plans towards Session Zero and playing in person.
I've currently got some decent interest (from this forum as well as Reddit). If I could find maybe 1-2 more players, we might be able to start scheduling a session 0! Please DM me if you are interested, as the OP suggests.
