After Critical Role made such excellent advertisement for P&P, a friend and myself are looking for a text based group, mainly due to a fact we're not native speakers and not quite comfortable with the pace of voice chat. Other than that, we both have been forum roleplayers for about 10 years now, so we're experienced in setting up atmosphere and fictional personalities, which also means we value character development and narrative over pure number crunching. It’s our first time playing pen and paper, and while D&D 5e would be preferred, it’s not a must - But one way or the other, we'd love some guidance to get introduced into the system.
Our time zone is GMT +1 but we're usually flexible with our schedules. So if there are any DMs or groups out there who are looking for new members for their text based adventures – here are two very interested candidates!
Would love to join if a group is found. Although, it appears that we have enough people just in this post to create our own group. All we would need is someone to DM.

I would DM a text based game. I would prefer to use D&D 3.5 edition rules.
Let's start right now.
Your adventure begins in the village of Hearth, a salty old village buried in deep snow and built out of beautiful shining bluestone brick. The Gathering at Hearth has begun, which means that the roads of Hearth are seeing more travellers than usual. Paths are beaten icy and muddy with the footprints of boots and ox drawn carts down to the Reeg Quarter, the docks, and up towards Haemon's Pass leading out to the old western road. Hearth sits upon a large stone pleateau about 50 miles long north to south and 10 miles wide between the sea and the Bottom Plains which stretch out westwards. Although small, it is a prosperous place with many happy and proud inhabitants.
But you are not one of them. You are a guest here today and you are now drying off and resting from your journey in a large room with dry logs burning the round firepit of Utim Toem, the name of the Inn. After asking what Utim Toem means, a blond bearded resident informs you it roughly translates as "dying onion light" in the local dialect, so you drop the inquiry. Suffice to say, you appreciate the warmth of the fire and the comfort and beauty of the room which seems to breathe with history.
guys dont know if you know about this site but its good for setting up text base adventures. (set up a dice room, and it has all kinds of cool comands) https://rolz.org/
That sounds like a good idea, Kryns. Figuring out what each individual can contribute to the party & what all of us want is probably a reasonable strategy, so no one will feel left out. (: If we randomly start in this forum thread, it'll become chaotical pretty soon - So would be cool if you could shoot me a Discord link! Also delighting to see that there seems to be vague interest.
I'm interested in joining if you guys are still looking for players. I'm relatively new to D&D and I have a group of friends I play with at school, but I am trying to play other campaigns so I get a bit more experience with it and play better, as I am the only beginner in the group. I do not have discord at the moment but if it is needed, I can get discord. My time zone is PST. I have school and I usually have dance practice saturday and sometimes sunday afternoons, but other than that I'm mostly free. My hours can be flexible.
Sounds good. I think there is about six or seven of us (Including the DM and you), so that seems like a good size (Maybe, I have no idea. Never played D&D before). I would recommend getting Discord. You'll find there is a lot of people that have Discord. It's also completely free and you can use it in browser.
Create an account and friend request me, I'm just trying to get everyone together so we can communicate quicker.

Thanks for the brisk interest everyone! But we're still looking for a group (& a DM) that uses the 5e system and would be interested in setting up a game together.
If you set up a game with the 5e System then i'd definitely be down for that. I have more experience using that system and am happy to content share DNDBeyond purchased stuff for wider material inclusion. Apologies for not reading the rest of the thread more clearly when applying before. As stated, I live in the GMT timezone so can work with people in similar timezones.
There is an excellent text-based 5e discord server you guys should check out! It's called axis tavern and the community is really friendly. https://discordapp.com/invite/dtqZ3MJ

Hey if you find a group let me know, I am new at this and I would like to join
I would love to join if you find a DM. I've played DnD for about a year with a group on and off and would like to play more often
I would love to play as well
Aye, I would like to be part of this as well, please let me know if you find a group of the sort.

I was thinking of creating a discord server just for us to know eachother first

Seems good. My Discord is: Macer200#3412. How about you all friend request me, and then we can create a Discord server.
From there we can figure out the details.
(Edit: Changed Discord Account. New is Macer200#3412)

ZkUpt I sent you the request, let me know what you all decide to do.
If you end up with a space i'd be interested in this. GMT time zone though.

Let me know also if you get the 5e game, im still trying to figure out the 3.5, but I am more interested in 5e since that's what I know more.
Yeah, 5e would definitely be preferred. If you happen to find a game, or just decide to create a group, I'd love to participate.
