Session Duration: 4 hours Schedule: weekly sessions Sundays 1900-2300 GMT+1. The campaign has started but we are in the early phases of the story - 1 player had to drop out because of personal reasons, and we wish to try to fill his big shoes.
Requirements:
- Age 30+ (absolute)
- A working PC + headset and a stable connection capable of running smoothly. We may incorporate video in the future so be accepting of that and own a webcam.
- willingness to commit to a long campaign (1 year +), staying in character and being a team player.
- Enjoy immersion in the world and your character and accept that narrative progression will be more important than the “xp and loot” mentality of videogames.
- You have not read or played through Curse of Strahd. (absolute)
Greetings I’m Syx, 41 year old Norwegian, and I will be your benevolent DM for the horrorfest of curse of Strahd. We are a group of players that have been playing on roll20 and have switched over to Foundry. We are looking to add one more mature player to our base of friendly boys and girls. We are specifically looking for people who enjoy RP (both in-session and out), do not powergame, uses setbacks as a tool for character development and who dislikes metagaming.
This campaign will be a heavily modified and expanded Curse of Strahd with mature content and extreme horror themes, so player beware. If you are easily offended by politically incorrect themes, then probably this is not the game for you. Due to the campaign setting only human (or variant) will be allowed. Campaign has started but is still in the early phases where the players really have no clue what's going on and they are in dire need of help by you (true story).
If this sounds like your cup of tea post information about yourself, your playstyle, what you like/dislike in a game, your experience and any other fun tidbits you deem appropriate either here or private message (preferably here if possible). I would like you to include a background and personality of a character you have or wish to play, just to get an idea. This will not necessarily be what you end up with for this campaign. This will not be a first come first served as we are looking for the right player for the group. If you are picked I will get ahold of you either through dndbeyond or discord if you graciously give me your handle.
I am Ryan, 35, Croatian living in Germany. Yes, Ryan is a moniker because it makes it easier for everyone. For me the focus of RP (at least in the last few year as I matured) is telling a story together, using failures and successes alike to impact the characters and the group. Have been playing various editions of D&D (and other RPGs) for 20 years, with some gaps in there, and am looking to get back into it.
What I hope to see in games is a variety of situations / challenges we face, possibility of out of the box solutions and finally, using the mechanics to elevate the narrative (build tensions, show uniqueness). On the other side, hope to have as little (ideally none) of: railroading (lack of agency), spotlight grabbing (extended), meta(or alpha)-gaming. Finally, I think gaming is a great (and safe) environment to explore the heavier topics, so I am looking forward to that in this game specifically.
A character concept that is on my mind recently: An Aasimar captured by a cult. He is tortured in an attempt to corrupt him for a ritual the cult wants to perform. Saved in last minute, he is irreversibly twisted and damaged. Here we have two options on how he takes it. Fallen Aasimar Haunted One 1. Follow in the footsteps of his saviors, looking to save who he can, either from the evils of the world of themselves. Paladin of Redemption 2. He rejects both heaven and hell, looking for a different force that could help restore his body and mind. Warlock with Archfey patron
