You could play D&D how it was intended or play it the better way:
Creating characters that shouldn't have existed like barbarians with 3 intelligence or a blood hunter with garbage stats but advantage on virtually every ability check.
That's all you really need to know. Just read the Players handbook or dungeon master's guide.
