Amid the bustle of Waterdeep, within the Castle Ward where barristers, nobles, and emissaries battle with word and contract, stands an inn not quite like any other. Before there was a Castle Ward or even what could be recognized as an ancestor of the City of Splendors, there was a dungeon, and in that dungeon begins the tale of the Yawning Portal.
Welcome all adventurers, I'm starting a Tales from the Yawning Portal campaign. We are starting with The Sunless Citadel, and the hope is to run through each of the adventures. So there may be instances where players drop, and new ones come into the game. This will be a bi-weekly campaign, the game is to start on January 26th at 7 PM EST. Played with Discord for voice, and Roll20 for actual gameplay.
We currently have the following party makeup: Warlock/Bard, Sorcerer (Shadow), Cleric (Forge), Rogue. The team is all starting at level 1 through this adventure.
For this interest please reply back to the thread with the following.
Age
How familiar are you with TTRPG? How long have you been playing? (Being a new player does not exclude you)
What are your favorite pillars in a DnD campaign? Combat? Storytelling? Role Play?
2. I have played on and off starting with the Red Box, then 2.5e, 3e and now played a bit of 5e. That being said I still don't consider myself a very experienced player but enough to know almost every rules of 5e.
3. What I like the most with DnD? I like creating new characters, building their background story, I love the interaction with the group, solving problems together and of course combat. I role play my character when interacting with the party and NPCs but I'm flexible on that aspect.
4. Your group seems caster heavy, maybe the Bard/Lock is a Hexblade but still, I feel a strong melee character would fit perfectly. I have 2 characters in mind.
a) a Half-Elf Barbarian who is obsessed with his good look and always worries about getting scars on his face. I would decide when he rages but the character doesn't have full control over it and he feels a bit disoriented after the rage ends and he quickly wants to make sure he didn't get any cuts on his face.
b) if something beefier is needed, I know it's cliche but a grumpy Mountain Dwarf Fighter armed to the teeth who loves carrying many weapons, he's a bit paranoid of falling into a monster ambush so he's always a bit edgy. His #1 solution to solving problems is crushing skulls. He's very loyal to the party and will almost always (almost) carry on with whatever solution the group comes up with if it's not combat.
Thanks for reading my message and good luck with your Campaign.
'Ello, names Kiraa. Lemme answers those silly questions of yours!
1. 20 years old and counting.
2. I know my stuff. Started playing in 5e, and was playing for a decent bit now. Know rules good and consider myself generally decent (not all knowing, but still experienced) player
3. Cooperation between players! Both in combat and in role-play. I enjoy everything, but I do find Exploration my least interesting.
4. I have so many character, but currently I thought about doing an Lizardfolk Barbarian, with unusual amount of compassion for others. Could fit group well, hehe. Well, I hope.
I am not picky in my characters and can do pretty much anything, so if I don't need to fill some role - I'll do it.
How familiar are you with TTRPG? How long have you been playing?- I am fairly familiar with DnD and have played a bit of Pathfinder. I am currently a player in one game and a DM in another
What are your favorite pillars in a DnD campaign? Combat? Storytelling? Role Play?- I enjoy roleplaying the most and creating characters
What kind of character would you like to play?- I have a sorcerer who is suffering from a curse I would very much like to play. I can tweak him a bit to be a fighter or so. The curse needs to be explained but it's pretty fun imo
How familiar are you with TTRPG? How long have you been playing? -I have been playing TTRPG's off and on for over 20 years. I have played D&D since 3rd edition and have dabbled in Star Wars and Cyberpunk.
What are your favorite pillars in a DnD campaign? Combat? Storytelling? Role Play? - My favorite pillars are the combat and the storytelling, but I do like to attempt a little role play.
What kind of character would you like to play? - I have actually never played a Bard and would love to try a Bard from the College of Eloquence. However, I am happy to fill any role.
How familiar are you with TTRPG? How long have you been playing? I started playing with friends a few months ago and am looking to get into more groups now that I have a bit more free time.
What are your favorite pillars in a DnD campaign? 1. Combat, 2. Roleplay, 3. Story telling.
What kind of character would you like to play? Honestly, whatever fits in with the group, but if I had to choose, I'd go with a Firbolg Paladin.
2. I've been playing TTRPGs for about 12 years now. I started with friends in college with Pathfinder 1E and Shotgun diaries. I'm loving 5e, and am currently DMing a play by post campaign in that system. Would love a chance to be a player again though.
3. I like to have all three pillars as balanced as possible. That being said, RP and Story Telling tend to be the most interesting to me, but I'm all for a good skirmish with cool spells being thrown around.
4. As for my character, I have a backlog of characters I've rolled for use as NPC's. The group already seems to have a good balance from what I can tell, so I'd probably want to play a Fighter or Barbarian to help shore up the front lines and protect the casters in the group. I've specifically had a Half Orc Sword/Shield Battlemaster I've been tinkering with lately, and would love a chance to bring him to life.
