I am running a one-shot in my homebrew world this afternoon. We have three players confirmed, and I am looking for one or two more to round out the party. Details are below. Send me a message if you're interested.
Game: D&D 5e Group type: Online Experience: Any Location/Timezone: CST Schedule: 2:00 CST today Roles sought: 1-2 players Game style: There should be a decent amount of combat. Opportunities for roleplay and exploration are present and depend on the choices the players make.
This is a one-shot that takes place in the far northeastern corner of a continent called Serthsimr. It is a frigid and desolate region that would be of little interest to anyone were it not for the rumors of lost treasures and other enticing adventures that can be found here. Serthsimr has more Planar resonances than any other continent, and this place is no exception. Beyond that, many seek to find an abandoned frost giant city that floats atop an iceberg out in the deep ocean. Others believe that somewhere out there is a portal to the Astral Sea, the realm that lies between and connects the Planes, from which strange and valuable artifacts might be obtained.
At the very edge of the ice sits the town Viimeinen, the last outpost in the north, from which ships frequently depart. Some even return. You are either making your way to or returning from Viimeinen when a blizzard suddenly strikes, forcing you to seek shelter. You may be traveling as one group, multiple groups, or individually.
Characters will be level 4. All official content is fine, but no homebrew. Tasha's optional features and origin customizations are allowed. Use "4d6, drop the lowest" (rolled in the server) or Point Buy for stats and average hit points. Take standard starting equipment, plus one Common magic item.
Most everything present in 5e exists in some form in this world, with some unique elements. There are two important things you need to know. First, influences from other Planes are common throughout the world thanks to the fallout from a war between the gods about a century ago. Second, the naturally occurring hominids are halflings, orcs, and dwarves. Humans are people with ancestry from more than one of those species.
