tl;dr: 5-year DM looking to teach brand new players via a one-shot game on Roll20; character creation, DnD basics, and Roll20 basics will all be included. Information for contacting me is at the bottom, but please read the whole paragraph!
Game: D&D 5e Group type: Online[Roll20] Experience: 5 years Location/Timezone: EST Schedule: One game, 3 to 4 hours in length Roles sought: New players Game style: Story > Rule of Cool > My arbitrary whims > Rules as-written
Hello all! Sorry if there's some sort of formal, shorthand way to post about new groups; I'm new to these forums :)
My name's Bobby, and I'm a player of 5 years in DnD. I've always been a DM, though I also have a lot of playing experience; at one point I was actively playing/DMing 5 games a week! I seriously love DnD and would forsake all other time-sink games in order to play it as often as possible. But now that I have a couple of games wrapping up and more time available, I went into this year with a real desire to try and help new players trying to get into this scene by showing them the ropes and soon will have the time! So I figured I'd come to the forums and put it out there and see if people may be interested.
Now, for clarity's sake, what I'm offering is:
-Running a one-shot (a single-session game) for players who are totally new to DnD
-Game will be played in Roll20 and characters will be a very low level (1-3 range)
-Everything from game mechanics, character creation, and even how to operate Roll20 will be taught to the extent needed
-The setting will be the Sword Coast; however, it will be my version of it developed over my (still-ongoing) 5-year-long campaign with friends (with cities, cultures, and plots ripped directly from my favorite fantasy books :3)
-Game(s) will be intended for totally raw players; other newer players are welcome, but understand that this will be designed with the patience needed to teach people from Zero!
-I'm (somewhat?) confident in my DMing skills, but for sure not enough to charge without surrendering myself to the court of public opinion. Perhaps if it goes well and people enjoy their experience, I'll start doing these as charged educational sessions in the future.
-First game likely wouldn't be for a couple of weeks as I wrap up other campaigns I'm currently DMing!
So, if anyone is interested, feel free to add me on Discord so we can chat! [tag: DM Bobby#8065]. And in case there are a lot of you out there, please know I'll likely be doing the game(s) as First Come, First Serve! I see some threads on here get a LOT of responses, and naturally I couldn't accommodate so many. But it'd be exciting to know so many people are trying to get into the scene, and I wish everyone the best :)
Hello, My name is Justin and i am new to DnD. around 7 months new lol. loving it so far and am currently seated at 2 different tables playing every Saturday. 2 weeks with 1 campaign and 2 weeks with the other.
Hello. I’ve been playing dnd for a year now. So not totally brand new but still learning. Very curious about your campaign and the world you’re building.
@ari: It's mostly a lot of proper nouns from WotC cannon mixed with cultures/politics taken from fantasy book series. My players have really bounced around it over the years, so it's mostly fleshed out through the time-honored art of "making things up as we go" XD
@Joe: Haven't gone to Discord yet, but I will be today!
@Zelda: Discord comms, I made a server just for this. Roll20 comms are the devil.
@Rhys: Good! Look for me on Discord, DM Bobby#8065

Hi. I've sent you a friend request on Discord. Thank you for offering this. I hope you haven't already filled your quota.
Hi i'm brand new to this. I already have the character sheets down but don't know what to do next.
@Bjorn: Time to find a group, or a game to play in! That's what I'm doing, just doing a single game to help teach people the bare basics :)
If you're interested, add me on Discord! DM Bobby#8065
