I am looking for one player to join my campaign, to replace some who recently dropped out due to starting a new job. It is set in the world of the Witcher, a few years after the end of The Witcher Stories, and one year after the end of the third games blood and wine expansion.
This campaign will be a grim/dark setting, where common people struggle to survive and choices you make are often lose/lose. I have made a homebrew Bombs/Potions/Oils crafting system (heavily based off Xgte tools improvement) which will prove key in allowing you to get the upper hand in fights against monsters.
I ask that all players can commit to all sessions, which will be ran weekly on Thursdays, 7PM GMT, starting 03/03/22, and are 18+. The game will be very RP heavy, about 70/30 RP/Combat, so I'm looking for players who are really into that and have some experience with it. You will joining the campaign as we finish Arc One and will be level 6. The next session will wrap up Arc One and then turn into a second session zero, as one PC has died and another has decided she would like to play a different character. This will be a great oppourtunity to link backstories and remove the "jankiness" that often comes with introducing a character in the middle of the campaign, and to get to know the other players.
Answers to FAQS - It will be ran on Discord and Roll20. As a DM I prioritise story over exact rulings, but won't break the rules constantly. I am still relatively new to DMing, about 6 months now. I ask that your characters would actively be seeking out adventure or willing to accept contracts. The game will be Gritty and Gory. Be a good team player, more in RP than combat, D&D is co-operative, party arguments and disagreements can be fun. Constantly squabbling that spills out of game is not.
For anyone who wishes to apply, please answers the questions below and get back to me here!
1 - Hey! What should we call you and what are your pronouns? I'm Jim He/Him
2 - Tell me a bit about yourself and your experience with TTRPGS and RP
3 - What sort of character would you normally be looking to play? I won't ever ask someone to play a paticular class if they don't want to.
4 - Have you ever had a bad d&d experience, particularly with a DM? If so what was it?
5 - If we disagree on a ruling, how will you deal with it? Many rules are open to interpretation in dnd, this can cause arguments, which I hope to avoid!
6 - Do you have any questions for me?
Thanks for reading and I look forward to your replies
Hi! I’m very intrigued in this. Here are the answers, and if you wanna ask more, my discord is at the bottom!!
1 - Hi, call me Rev. I don't like my real name. He/Him
2 - I have played DnD for about a year, closing in on 2. I love story building, and character storylines so thats something I really get into. I have played every class at least once.
3 - I have a few ideas, one being a Rogue, and the other being a ranger, but I am very flexible, and will LOVE to discuss it. Male, Female, or whatever else? Doesn't matter to me
4 - I have, and it’s basically down to the DM’s not being patient with me. Rushing me when I have time, etc that’s always bad for me.
5 - If we disagree on a ruling, how will you deal with it? Many rules are open to interpretation in dnd, this can cause arguments, which I hope to avoid!
6 - There will be a few, but they’ll come later. I’d love to discuss em over Discord, and mine is - Chaos_Reigns#2058
Hi there, I'd love to join. It's my timezone and I'm a fan of the Witcher too :D
1) My name's Ouroboros/Shane and my pronouns are he/him 2) I've played 5e for around 6 years. I've played other TTRPGs for around the same amount of time, so things like SWN, Pathfinder and the like. 3) I'm thinking of a more martial class, since I'm getting a bit sick of casters, though untimately I'm flexible when it comes to character stuff 4) Never a DM, but I have had a few bad experiences with former players. Mostly character stuff, or players being a bit rules lawyer-y. 5) Ultimately, it's the DM's decision at the end of the day and as a player, I respect that. 6) The main question would have to be the amount of knowledge on The Witcher. Would I need a lot of prior knowledge, or is a little fine?
If you'd like to ask me any other questions, my discord is Ouroboros#3090. I look forward to hearing from you :D
Hello! I'd be delighted if you'd consider my application.
1 - Online, I usually go by Witch and she/her. The real name is Astrid, though. Nice to 'meet' you :)
2 - About me, I'm a writer and generally a creative mind. When not playing D&D or writing, I usually am painting, drawing, scrapbooking, or trying to get my teenagers to get off their Xboxes and play TTRPG with me. In terms of experience, and at the risk of dating myself, I've been playing D&D since AD&D was a thing. I've dabbled with Star Wars, D20 Modern, and a few homebrew stuff some of my GMing friends created but I always come back to D&D. I'm a RPer much more than I am a Min/Maxer, and my characters will usually have their stats optimised based on their backstories rather than in the view of making them as OP as possible.
3 - I don't really have a preferred class or anything or the sort. I usually would ask anyone who would GM for me how flexible their are with their players coming up with new lore. Then to give me a background of recent history in a specific part of their world. Based on what they tell me, I'd then try to create a character concept and decide what race/class would fit best from there.
4 - The worst D&D experience I've ever had was through a player who basically wanted to control the game and refused to act as a co-operative unit, even one with people somewhat at odds. The GM was still kind of new and unsure how to deal with the rising tension within the group but luckily he reached out to those of us with GMing experience in the group and we managed to help him deal with the situation (hopefully without him thinking we were taking over too much; he said we helped a lot and he was grateful soooo...)
5 - Personally, I always act as if the GM is the Overgod of the world we play in. I may ask clarification on a ruling in game but will always follow the GM's ruling.
6 - My main question is this: I know nothing of the Witcher. As in, I've never played the games, or read the novelisations, or watch the TV series. Would that disqualify me from playing or would you be willing to be patient as I unearth lore as I play?
2) Been playing dnd for a few years now, but also played other ttrpgs before hand
3) Im willing to play many characters, i've played dwarf clerics, orc barbarians and drow assassins. Will make a character from my list of ideas to fit the group
4) All positive so far - Except when a DM ghosted the group for a few weeks and the campaign died.
5) Either: come up with a compromise solution or LET THE DICE DECIDE
1 - Hey! What should we call you and what are your pronouns? am DarkBornPhoenix he/him
2 - Tell me a bit about yourself and your experience with TTRPGS and RP? mainly played 5E most of the time and played a lot of games. know a bit of 4th ed
3 - What sort of character would you normally be looking to play? i just go with what i feel with at the time and stick with it, i always like character growth
4 - Have you ever had a bad d&d experience, particularly with a DM? If so what was it? its too long and i dont wanna talk about it, unless it comes up in conversion
5 - If we disagree on a ruling, how will you deal with it? Many rules are open to interpretation in dnd, this can cause arguments, which I hope to avoid! so long as there is a reason. am not too picky with such things. but if the options are very limiting. then i will have issues. most of the time ill be cool with it. maybe some decussion on the subject but overall agreeable with with it
6 - Do you have any questions for me? none that i can think of unless am picked for the game. like do we roll, what system? (some DMs dont say)
