Game: D&D 5e; (Discord for A/V, Foundry VTT for virtual tabletop)
Experience: All welcome
Campaign Setting: Wildemount, pre-CR Campaign 2
Location/Timezone: Central Time America (Texas/Chicago)
Availability: Every Tuesday from 7-10pm Central Time (Texas/Chicago); flexible and willing to shift to an alternative day if existing players are agree to the new proposed time. We will skip weeks when there are holidays or if less than 50% of players are present for a session.
Preferred Role: Player preferrably
Current Party Level: 7
Gamestyle: We are definitely the beer 'n pretzels kind of group with a bit of an RP-heavy twist. Most sessions will start with everyone joining the Discord channel, chatting about random things that have been going on in everyone's life before a Dragon Ball Z-inspired "Last week in D&D" recap. In-game, the DM will try to engage characters with either very realistic or comedic (in IMO) roleplay via a variety of different NPC dialogue. Every character, no matter how minor or seemingly random, has a backstory and their own motivations or goals.
As a DM, I tend to go with the "fly-by-the-flaming-seat-of-my-pants" improvised approach to storytelling versus a heavily planned and railroaded narrative. The current main quest hook that the party recently reached took more than 9 months to reach when it was originally expected to be 1 or 2 so I have no problems with players taking their time on the main narrative.
I'm currently running a campaign in the Wildemount continent of Exandria and am looking to bolster the existing party of 3 players with 1-2 new players. We had a couple players drop out sometime back and have been running the campaign with 3-players for ~9 months. The players have indicated that they'd like bringing on 1-2 new party members and so here we are.
A Typical Game Session: Usually, our sessions begin with everyone saying hello, grabbing a beverage of their choice, and either a player or the DM doing a "Last week on Dragon Ball Z"-style recap of the events leading up to the current session. This both serves to remind everyone what's going on, and is also a fun way to relax and start getting into character. After that, the session officially begins and players can focus on and enjoy roleplaying their character. As the DM, I'll try to use different voices and accents for various NPCs as I find that this helps immerse players and make them more comfortable RP'ing. I'm not a rules stickler and if a rule needs to be looked up, then I'll usually just make an arbitrary decision to keep the gameplay flowing and ask the player to look up the rule between combat rounds, or between sessions so that we all know next time. Since we are a relatively heavy-RP group, your character's backstory likely will matter significantly as I will pull elements from it into the campaign which could be as subtle as giving a spotlight for your character to RP and tell the party about a part of their backstory, or be a major quest chain which takes a dozen sessions to complete. Also, for alcoholic beverages are typically consumed, players should expect at least three 5 minute breaks during each 3-hour session, because...CH3CH2OH + homo sapiens = restroom breaks.
I highly recommend reaching out to current and previous players as they will be in the best position to offer their personal experiences (PM and I'll forward messages/contact info to players depending on their preference). As a DM, I'm very likely biased, but would best describe this campaign as the "Mid-Week Quasi-Debaucherous D&D Sesh of Fun".
Campaign Background: The campaign is currently set roughly 1 year prior to where the Explorer's Guide to Wildemount source book is set, so no Critical Role spoilers from either campaign 1 or 2 will be present. The campaign will force players to make various choices where, like in real life, there aren't any clear solutions and being the hero could result in a huge personal loss to your character. This is very much a dark and gritty campaign where players will encounter themes such as the cost of war, tyranny, and revolution or how easily the best intentions can lead to terrible outcomes.
Requirements/Preferences:
As the 2 other existing party members and myself will probably be drinking alcoholic beverages during the session, I would generally feel most comfortable if players were 21+ (or of legal drinking age wherever you hail from), with 18+ being the minimum due to the dark and gritty nature of the campaign. All other players and myself are in the 25-28 age range.
Overall, I hope my post gives off the impression that I'm a very passionate DM who will put in the effort to make sure that everyone, including myself, has a fun experience, and hope for my players to do the same. If possible, I would ask that interested parties sit part of a session (consider it a session 0) to check out my DM'ing style and make sure that there won't be any serious personality conflicts with the existing party members.
Cheers, Tom

Moderator Heads-up: This is a new post from the same DM ashttps://www.dndbeyond.com/forums/d-d-beyond-general/looking-for-players-groups/105232-beers-barbarians-and-battlemages-weekly-wednesday, however since that post is quite old, I figured that creating a new post would be most apropos
