Hello all! I'm a 43yo veteran of tabletop RPGs, having played/GMed D&D 2nd edition, played 3/3.5, GMed/played 4 and 5 as well as Palladium, Rifts, Star Wars (West End D6, Saga, and more recent Edge of Empires versions) and Dragon Age.
I enjoy playing characters with personality traits and flaws that may or may not always match everyone else's in the group's and pride myself on having played Evil characters in good-aligned groups without causing outright PvP or issues with the PCs working towards a common goal.
Some characters I've played include:
A bloodthirsty warlock who hid his desire for making others bleed by being a sellsword
A blood hunter half-orc looking to avenge his lost tribe by protecting and looking after others
An Oath of Redemption Paladin looking to make the world a better place through kindness and compassion, using a sword as a last resort.
A sorcerous setting out to earn her way towards opening her own jewelry and enchanted item shop.
A templar who'd fallen in love with an apostate mage, running away with her before the Order could have her executed
A bounty hunter, once part of the royal guard of Alderaan, on the run and trying to keep his head down to avoid attracting the attention of the Empire or the Alliance.
I've been wanting to play in a Grim Hollow campaign ever since I first received the campaign book but haven't had the chance to. I thoroughly enjoyed Curse of Strahd, even to the point my Fighter(Eldritch Knight)/Rogue(Inquisitor) made a deal with Mother Night in an attempt to dethrone Strahd and end up a domain lord for a mashup of the Ghosts of Saltmarsh book/homebrew Domain of Dread formation campaign I'm currently running on the weekend.
For character concepts, I have the following ideas already that I could flesh out/easily play:
A half-orc barbarian (going Path of the Primal Spirit, Pit Fighter Advanced Background) who became separated from his raiding tribe to be captured and become a Pit Fighter somewhere in the Burach Empire. His goals are combat and becoming stronger. A lycanthrope transformation into a Were Bear or Wolf would be absolutely fitting for him
A half-elven fighter (going Living Crucible) who bounces from bar to bar starting fights so he can earn enough pocket money to keep from starving until he eventually can find more steady work and some reliable friends.
A Paladin (Oath of Pestilence) whose express purpose is to purge the land of anything/everything that threatens humanity's survival through sheer strength. He would not be good-aligned and very much a "means justify the end" mentality.
A cleric/paladin who does not want the world to know they still have a divine spark and try to conceal their true nature to everyone but those they trust deeply, and the complications that come with transforming to a Seraph.
A Fighter (Bulwark Warrior), ordered to accompany the group and assist them with their goals (Soldier advanced background), only for his minor lord to be wiped out.
A Sorcerer (Haunted Origin) whose family was wiped out, and now they seek revenge on anything that threatens the lives and safety of other paupers on the streets, either through violence or money/greed.
