Game: D&D 5e - Baldurs Gate: Descent into Avernus Group type: Online Experience: A few years experience with several 5e campaigns a mix of modules and homebrew settings as both player and GM. Location/Timezone: Tuesdays 6.30PM NZT (UTC +13) via Roll20 Schedule: 6.30-9.30 Tuesday Evenings Roles sought: 2-4 Players. I have 2 players from another campaign which I run on a Thursday who will be joining this campaign. I figure 4-6 players is about right. Game style: We currently all play face to face and with Roll20 over a few campaigns, but Tuesdays are just online as it's easier with work commitments etc.
The game will be based on Baldurs Gate: Descent into Avernus. I am starting this campaign as I would like to experience the module and see it come to life. So the aim will be to play the module from start to finish, without rushing the content but keeping a decent pace. I like to flesh out elements of a story that will make it more meaningful for my players, and provide ample opportunity for the players to drive the story - which might be more difficult in a module but I like a challenge.
In prior campaigns I try to strike a balance between the monsters knowing what they're doing, and making sure you don't spend every session rolling up a new character. I encourage a sense of mortality in my games as I think it helps to be attached to a character if you feel the risk is real, but to date (touch wood) I have never had a TPK and most characters see a campaign from start to finish.
I try to describe each action in combat to make it more immersive, and I will encourage you to join in. If this isn't your thing, let me know and I will try to keep it in mind.
I try to keep to the rules as written and will often rule on what I see as the rules as intended. This is by no means an Adventurer's League level game, so mistakes and misunderstandings of rules is likely will happen. To help with the flow of the game, I'm happy for an issue to be raised at the time it occurs and try to resolve it when it does. But, if I decide to move on, it is to keep the pace of the game - not to personally disadvantage you - and I will happily discuss the differences in the interpretation of the rule and determine the way it will be handled going forward. Still, mistakes will happen.
We are inclusive people, and will not intentionally insult each other. That being said, New Zealander's have a unique sense of humour, so if there is any offence caused at the table, please do mention it and we will try to make sure your experience is as much fun as ours. I also accept that some content included in the modules may be triggering. As I want to try to maintain an authentic feel to the modules, I will run them as close as possible but will modify them to account for anything that is considered objectionable in the group. We're here to have fun and get away from the hassles in the world.
To that end, being an aggravating dick will see you dropped ASAP.
This is NOT a paid game. If you are interested in joining please make sure you can attend sessions in the future, having to stop a module just as it gets good sucks. Just because it isn't a paid game doesn't mean no time goes into the preparation, please respect that time by giving me a reasonable heads up if you can't make a session. Life happens, but a message takes a minute.
Hey there, I'm pretty inexperienced, I've played for a handful of sessions with my friends but we haven't been able to be consistent with it. I'd be really interested to join you guys to really get to experience what d&d is like :)
Hey, I'm based in Australia and I would love another campaign in the evening if you'll have me! I love roleplay heavy campaigns and I've been dying to play Descent into Avernus. My discord handle is Tam Lin#0788 (:
