Game: D&D 5e or 3.5, Shadowrun, Pathfinder Group preferred: Online Experience: With DnD content, mechanics, and game play I am very experienced. My vocal roleplay and improvisation skills are new. Nearly all of my thousands of hours of roleplay is text based. Location/Timezone: USA, Florida, Eastern coast, EST Availability: I can play anywhere between 8a-10p EST any day of the week consistently. My soft limit is about three games a week. I'm currently in (2). Preferred role: Player Game style: I'm interested in playing virtually any setting in D&D, Shadowrun, or Pathfinder so long as the setting is nicely fleshed out, and has a foundation of common sense. The kinds of experiences I'm looking for are as follows:
A - As immersive, and realistic a roleplaying experience as possible. Ideally only the bravest, strangest, or fanatical of characters are unconcerned with their mortality, morality, and reputation. Characters make decisions that make sense for the world they are in, and their decisions remain largely uninfluenced by out of character concerns. Meta-gaming in all its forms is to be suppressed. Totally fine with elements of the rules being tweaked for balance, or to make more sense. At the highest level of performance gameplay would be indistinguishable from the DnD novels with the addition of making rolls. B - Casual Hack'n'slash with the right group of people. Meta-gaming should still be moderated. C - Basically anything in between.
I love homebrew stuff because it has the potential to smooth out the experience, AND create new things veteran players haven't seen before, thus generating genuine moments. I'm really itching for a sandbox, long term, homebrew campaign where I can grow my adventurer like the days of old in a hostile world that I don't already know almost everything about. I'm LGBTQ friendly. Prejudice in all its forms is bad, and should be discouraged. My budget for professional DM's is 0$ forever.
A little sample below of my aforementioned text based rp experience. One of my newest, beloved PC's is a Goliath war cleric of Tempus named Kogoth 'Windhammer' Nulakathai. In a spur of inspiration I wrote this little excerpt about how he got his tribe name. When reading this imagine the deep, strong, clear, direct voice of a barbarian.
"My chieftain gave it to me, after the last great battle of my people. My tribe and the Frost Giants of Icewind Dale fought fiercely and frequently. Eventually the conflicts lead to a final, bloody battle. I was one of the youngest in my tribe then. My prowess, pride, and claim to glory was lesser than most of my kin, so I began the battle towards the rear of the tribe as honor demanded. After many blows exchanged, only a few remained standing. On our side stood myself, the Chieftain, badly wounded at that point, two of my equally young peers, and the wise woman. On theirs three, each one twice our size. None of us wanted to fight any longer. Fear was in our eyes, in our hearts, but there we were, face to face with our enemy. We could not hope to outrun them. I stepped forward to face what I thought would be my last moments. I gripped my warhammer tightly in both hands, and stared up at the doom towering before me, who was hoisting a boulder that was nearly my equal in size high and ready overhead. It was in that moment.. that my fear, my thoughts of survival, of my tribesman, of my future flew from me. In that moment the only thing that mattered was that my huge, blue skinned opponent, who had killed my people, died, and died quickly. It was him, or me, and I hated him for it. I took my swing; a mighty, unbalanced, upward strike. That is when it happened...
The wind kicked up into a gale of likes I have not seen since. The winds howled like a creature from your darkest nightmare. They carried a blinding river of ice up into the grey sky, distracting, and unbalancing my foe. They gave me strength. I could barely see my opponent anymore, and yet I knew exactly where to strike. My blow landed first, with a thump and the snap of bone, square into my opponent's chest. The head of my hammer sunk in as if his chest was a half empty sack. The giant bent forward from the impact, towards and above me. Then I heard the boulder it was holding land just behind me. The sheer impact jolted me off the ground, and brought the fear of life right back. Then, warhammer still lodged in the guts of my foe, I heard my brothers charge in on either side. I knew Tempus was watching us, and was proud. Since that day I have been able to cast spells in Tempus' name. Since that day I AM WINDHAMMER!" *Kogoth's massive form suddenly shoots up from his seat by the campfire. With a swelling pride that was all but palpable he hoisted his warhammer high overhead in one hand, towards his glorious god of battle.*
