I run a discord server for dnd, I am currently looking for new players to add in, newbie or veteran. The server functions, as the name may suggest, as a adventurers guild, every player has a character based within this place in the world, and when someone wants to play, they grab two to three other players from the guild and set out on an adventure generally lasting a single session. This means players will rarely be running with the exact same party, or even the same dm from session to session. The server generally operates in cycles, with players starting at level 3 and carrying on until a few people hit level 20, at which point the setting will move to a new guildhall in a new land with players rolling up new characters. The server at this point has been running for over a year and a half, the third cycle just now beginning, based in a desert city ruled by genies, and as such I figured now would be a good time to bring in new players to refill the spaces that have emptied with time. Sessions are generally two to four hours in length, and most of our dms are on american time zones, as such most of sessions will be held in the morning or evenings of the those time zones. Sessions are done over voice chat so you will need to be comfortable with a mic. Finally, I strive to keep my server a place where people can be themselves and enjoy playing dnd, and in the interest of this, I ask you be at least sixteen years of age, and please dont take our game of dice and imagination too seriously. If you are interested you can reply here, message on Dndbeyond, or on Discord @ pikachuking115#4123 with your answers to the following questions
-What’s your experience level with dnd?
-What's your favorite part of a session (roleplay, combat, loot, etc.)?
-What’s your favorite class?
-What is the most memorable session you’ve played?
(Thanks everyone for applying we've gathered the required numbers)
I've been playing for 8 years, and DMing my main campaign for about 6 years. Started at lvl 1 and they are now all lvl 17! Will be taking it to 20 over the next few months before bringing it to an end. Have also played in a couple of campaigns as a player, and run & played a fair few one shots and modules.
-What's your favorite part of a session (roleplay, combat, loot, etc.)?
I love it all! Combat is always fun but D&D is nothing without the RP element :)
-What’s your favorite class?
Hard to choose, although I definitely gravitate more towards spellcasters. I've been playing more clerics lately, so let's go with that!
-What is the most memorable session you’ve played?
Probably one I was DMing. It was a big boss fight, and the final session for one of the players. One of our old players who had to leave the game because he was moving away, was back after almost a year away. I had him briefly ressurected for the final fight and the players almost fell off their chairs when he walked into the room in person! A very memorable evening.
What’s your experience level with dnd? I've been playing for two years. I've been a part of two long campaigns, two short campaigns and several one shots
What's your favorite part of a session (roleplay, combat, loot, etc.)? Definitely the roleplay. I love creating characters and making new backstories, and I love getting into character. Combat is also always fun
What’s your favorite class? Druid
What is the most memorable session you’ve played? Once we were up against cultists who were creating a piercing rainstorm. My group was getting pierced and battered and our wizard set up leomund's tiny hut. We all hid under it for shelter. Our barbarian decided to RAGE and then ran out and took the damage and just reefed on the cultists. After defeating his third one, he came back, looking real rough. Steorra (my little circle of dreams druid), healed him with cure wounds and went into her pool of healing from Balm of the Summer Court and got him back to full health, which he was able to go back and absolutely demolish the cultists. Once he defeated the last one, the rain dispersed. It was simultaneously the most useless and useful i have ever felt, and i will always remember it.
I've played a couple of times when I was younger. Now in my mid 40s
-What's your favorite part of a session (roleplay, combat, loot, etc.)?
I love the story telling aspect of it. The outside the box thinking. I loved cracking jokes with the members of the party.
-What’s your favorite class?
Anything healer. In almost every game that has a healer in it, I tend to become the healer out of necessity. I also like the Bard's abilities to talk to people brashly and get away with it.
-What is the most memorable session you’ve played?
It has been awhile since I've last played. I just remember the fun I had and not the actual story or game itself.
If you find that I am someone that you think would be good for your group I thank you. If not then i thank you for your time and no hard feelings.
-What’s your experience level with dnd? Wolrd builder, DM, started with 2e in the 1980s, started getting into 5e last year and have run 2 home brew campaigns over the past year but have had trouble with players dropping out or not showing up on time, so I'm looking to just play as a player for a while. -What's your favorite part of a session (roleplay, combat, loot, etc.)? Role play, emersion in the story line and character, especially in long term multi-session campaigns where group cohesion matters. -What’s your favorite class? Ranger or Rogue -What is the most memorable session you’ve played? Can't really say since I've been playing (mostly DMing) since the late 80's. That's a lot of history to pick one thread from as a "most memorable".
Only listened to podcasts and such. No actual game play experience.
-What's your favorite part of a session (roleplay, combat, loot, etc.)?
I think I would like the roleplay and story telling of the games. I like any game in general that has a story that is actually influenced by the player.
-What’s your favorite class?
Honestly I am not sure, probably rogue or fighter. I don't know enough to pick yet.
-What is the most memorable session you’ve played?
Beginner. I've only played in one west marches style discord server.
-What's your favorite part of a session (roleplay, combat, loot, etc.)?
Combat. I like the strategic movements like chess and similar board games.
-What’s your favorite class?
I've always loved melee type class. I love getting into the middle of the fights.
-What is the most memorable session you’ve played?
Our party was wandering through the mountains heading towards our mission when a stone giant came out of nowhere and randomly threw a rock at our party. That rock flew straight for my character critically striking him for 51 bludgeoning damage! But he managed to survived at 1 HP due to Heavy Armor Master feat. After that our wizard polymorphed the giant and we ran like crazy!! Everyone was super ecstatic that my character survived a critical hit and had a good laugh.
