Hi, I'm looking for players to join my play-by-post game on Discord.

The Dark Domain of Khet

Events take place in a frozen, sparsely populated area of a "low magic" world. Non-clerics/non-druid casters are viewed with great superstition. The PCs begin play in a prison inside of the walled City of Goerstaadt in the land of Ysylgraad (a "Far North" environment). The city is in the late stages of a siege, and starvation and disease are prevalent. It is deep winter, when the sun sets and does not rise for months. The city is besieged by a crusading invasion force: The Worshipers of Khet (Khetites), who are ruled by a tyrannical Queen/High Priestess and her vile family. Khetites believe in the One True God: Khet. To show their devotion, they are branded on the face by a branding iron with his holy symbol. Nonbelievers are considered heretics and are given the choice to be branded or burned alive in purifying flames.

Group type: PbP (Discord w/ Avrae)
Experience: I am a veteran DM of 20+ years, but novice Discord PbP DM
Game style: Absurd, violent, horrific, occasional shocking gory, darkly humorous, sandboxy, theater of the mind, immersive deep RP
Time Zone: PST
Availability: 9am-2am PST, usually 7 days a week
Preferred Players: 18+
Number of Players: 6 to 8
Playable Races: Non-homebrew
Playable Classes: Non-homebrew
Starting Level: 1
XP: Awarded, but an occasional milestone here and there.
Character Alignments: Preferably not evil, but I am open to great character ideas.
Ability Scores: 4d6, drop the lowest, reroll all 1s
Character Backstory: You are locked inside of a prison cell inside of a walled city. The city has been under siege for 6 months, and it is the middle of winter. Consider the following:

• How did you end up in prison in this city under siege?
• Are you from the Domain of Khet? (If not, how did your character end up there?)
• Are you branded as a Worshiper of Khet? (Unbranded folks may have a tough time if you run into Khetites)

I'm happy to answer any questions about the setting and help develop character backstory ideas.
You don't need to have it all figured out right now. 

Character Religions: Inhabitants of the Domain of Khet primarily worship Khet (the One True God). All other religions are considered heretical. However, the core religion of Ysylgraad (the lands where the City of Goerstaadt is) worship a druidic faith. Players can worship any non-homebrewed god, but there may be severe consequences for doing so openly. Players should consider that when choosing deities.

Holy Symbol: 3 vertical lines, the middle slightly raised
Domains: Ambition, Order, War
Portfolio: Ambition, Control, Oaths, Tyranny

• A Crusader Kings 2 playthrough where I ended up as a Viking emperor / religious leader for the entire Pagan faith.
• The First and Second Crusades (1096 AD and 1147 AD)
• Norman Conquest of England (1066 AD)
• Roman Conquest of Germania (12 BC - 16 AD)
• Salem Witch Trials (1692-1693)
• Life Below Zero (A great tv show)

About the DM: I write for a living! I am a senior technical writer working in the autonomous vehicle industry. I would love to write about non-work things, so here we are.

Hi @Peregriniffin, I think posting for everyone will have its peaks and valleys. I'll definitely be more engaged after I'm off work and on weekends. But, I've been playing in other PbP games for over a year, and find I am one of the more responsive ones during "9am-6pm working hours".

Sounds great. Just wanted to see what the expectations might be. I'm pretty good at posting daily, but sometimes life gets busy.

Assuming we'll be hosting our character sheets here on Beyond, I've got a sorcerer (witch of Rashemen, if you remember them from 3E) that I'd run. Probably will need a bit of tweaking. Or, if party balance needs it, I've got a couple other ideas.
