Game: D&D 5e Group type: Online Discord Voice chat (we are open to video) Player Experience: beginner-intermediate Number of players: 3-5 (6 max for the occasional “guest” character) Location/Timezone: USA Schedule: Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays are ideal (weekdays after 4 pm PST/flexible times on Saturday) Roles sought: DM (experienced-veteran) Game style: Immersive story/roleplay driven, at least a small combat component each session if it fits, would love to hit level 20 by the end, open to homebrew Software: DnD beyond (Roll20? Or at least a camera to show us the map)
Hello! I’m looking for an experienced DM to run a potentially long campaign for my discord community. I have a community of primarily nerdy anime-loving adults many of whom are new to D&D and want to experience it for the first time. I am new to D&D and recently fell in love with it.
The DM: We are hoping to find a DM who is laid back, patient, has great communication skills, is LGBTQIA+ friendly, highly comfortable with NSFW interactions/elements (set the scene and “fade to black”), and is comfortable with adult language.
The Campaign: We are hoping for a campaign that has its ups and downs, allows for character development, team bonding moments, ample downtime, isn't afraid to get a bit dark now and then (based on player comfort of course), has a nice balance of combat, magical items to obtain and play with, and a flexible world/story. Some of us have characters with detailed backgrounds and goals and we need someone who can help us tell our stories and is willing to work with us to create a fun experience together. We would love to have a DM who is open to homebrew content and is willing to work with players who want to make something fair/balanced. We want to laugh, cry, and have fun.
If we sound like a good match for you, please reach out here or on discord (SleepySyren#9259) to discuss further details.
Not sure if you found the right fit for your DM yet or not to this request, but interested in exploring a conversation further with you.
I have been working up a home brew for a little while now that I would love to run, it should turn into a full length campaign that meets a lot of the outlines in the posts. It is important for me to find the right group to run this with as I really want to see the characters develop the story with me and all roleplay into this together. The world is set in a realm that mixes the general DnD Lore with some of that from Faerun. Primordials, Betrayer Gods, and Trickster/Lesser gods give this world a wide pantheon of theology to derive from and should allow characters to truly have freedom into backstory that should be able to easily be worked into the main plot line(s?).
It has a setting in my old stomping grounds of a world where some chaos has been sown and revenge was being exacted before untimely fates met of a group of adventures. Some called those adventurers heroes and some called them villains. We would be playing anywhere from 900-1500 years after those adventurers deeds (good or ill), dependent on PC character choices of age and races. As the PC's begin they would be coming together some as strangers, some maybe as companions (depending on backstory); learning to trust one another over time, but they may have differing views on the world at large which will likely lead to tension as the plot unfolds and choices become increasingly impactful to the world around them. Rifts in the weave of magic have become increasingly frequent over the last few hundred years and with that uncertainty has befallen the realm again as to what powers may be behind it. Tharizdun was trapped years ago by a mighty wizard, whom has not been heard from for over 900 years, but there has been no cultist activity present that would suggest any betrayer god such as them are currently at play. So who or what is it? Why have the fabrics of magic become so strained? Is the age of arcane simply coming to an end, are these rifts just going to keep becoming more frequent until magic fades completely? Do answers even lie on the material plane of existence or one of the others? What kingdoms do the PC's find trust in- if any at all? All these are avenues of a continually developing plot line to bring characters together at low levels, give them some world altering decisions as their individual powers and stories come alive, and bring about a climatic end from which new tales and adventurers can spring forth.
I started playing DnD years back when I was an early teen and def want a group that is at least 18+ and willing to delve into the topics that grow everyone as characters and individuals. I am PST located which seems to be the most ideal for all of us. I have yet to really delve into DnD Beyond for Dm'ing been solely in person up until now, but def willing to try the online thing of which Sam Riegel would be proud to know he will be getting a cut of that AD revenue lol.
I would be interested to hear more about your group and the type of characters/world you are looking to play in. As a DM it would be my job to have the supportive narrative to your story as you make it in the world I created but you continue to shape. IT IS NOT my job to lord over the world and try to god kill you with NPC's or Monsters, that style of DM is messy on the best of days - side not i literally watched a five hour giant crab fight where the DM wanted nothing more than kill off his PC's of which one or two died permanently and I hella napped like 3 times cause it was boring . I want you to have the connection moments with one another and learn about yourselves through roleplay, it will help me to shape the world around you and bring challenges that should bring an array of emotions forth and everyone closer together.
Big fan of Matt Mercer and CR style play tbh (all caught up and every one shot too that I am aware of), would absolutely love to grow into an operation like that with the right group over time, possible twitch stream etc as we find a good rhythm and trust/rapport with one another. Spare time outside of my dayjob I create 3d sculptures and then run those files through my 3d printer, sometimes they are awesome sometimes they print horribly wrong, but its a learning thing. Would also love to explore that avenue in time too - just need the right group of friends and nerdy counterparts to weeb out with. I am hoping it can bring all of us together and perhaps into a proper business - but lets start with friends and roll some dice first.
If you have found a DM fully, please note that I would also be interested in a PC with the right DM/Campaign while I continue developing my world as well or move this campaign to a table of my direct friends. Oh and +1 to LGBTQIA+ while I personally do go by a he/him pronoun it is up to each person that is at this table how they would like to present themselves and what orientation if any they would prefer. That goes for anyone watching/listening to us now or in the future - 0 tolerance for bigotry. **** that, no one has time for it *period*.
Anyways if this sounds interesting lets maybe all get together on discord in a VC or something and chat this out get to know one another and make sure we are all being heard - kind of like a pre session zero so it doesnt feel as awkward, plus i would love to hear about your characters as they are and what they have accomplished so far. That way I could finish up some prep work and have us underway in a couple weeks tops and have a proper session zero before that. Which is where we get together one on one, or those with overlapping backstories, and we can work through some things together simple fights and what not, that would allow you to become character familiar (or party familiar) and we can talk about what you like or dont like about your class/race and see whats working or not. Will also help me to gauge where each player is and how to help them in combat or the like - prompt skill checks/suggestions + see the characters personality to give them the best possible story = smoothest out the gate gameplay while continuing to help newer players understand the limitless world bound only by what the dice decides. Each of the session zeros would run probably an hour and half to 2 hours and preferably a proper campaign session would be set for 3-4 hours but may run longer with a break around the 2 hr mark or as needed. Of course bio breaks are what they are and anyone can slink away to do this as needed.
Well that ended up a lot longer than I meant it to - Have fun with that >< Look forward to hearing from you
