Alright, so this is a little bit of an atypical request- or rather, two requests in one. So I'm going to start with the Friday night request. I've been running a Friday night group for several months now. I didn't start the group, I was a player in it. But the DM went on break and I took over temporarily to keep the group together. But it's been a while and there's no information from the original DM on if/when he might return, and given that I was already running two other games before I took over that one, I can't keep up running another game. So I'm looking for someone willing to take over and continue DMing for the group, because I don't want to leave them without a game. We're doing Candlekeep Mysteries, and I've got all of the source material already added onto Roll20, so you wouldn't have to bring any content to the table, and I'd be happy to fill you on any other relevant information, introduce you to the group, etc. They're really a great group, and easy to work with, I promise.
And now, we get to the second request. I am, I must admit, a forever DM. I've tried to be a player a couple of times, but it never seems to work out. But I really want a chance to unwind and experience the game from the other side. So, I run a bi-weekly Saturday game, and I'm looking for someone willing to run a game on the other Saturdays that I could be a player in (I'd rather it be a new game as opposed to joining one that has already started. Which week it is doesn't matter so much, since I can shift my other group by a week if needed. I'm free by 6 pm CST, and would rather not start later than 7 so games don't run too late. I'm fine with a homebrew scenario or an official WoTC adventure, whichever you prefer (although you should know that I own and have run Candlekeep Mysteries, Curse of Stradh, Dungeon of the Mad Mage, and Lost Mines of Phandelver, so I might have a little too much inside knowledge on those, although I always try to avoid metagaming whatever the case.) I'm even happy to buy/provide a scenario if you'd like. As far as recruiting players, I can also help with that as well if you'd like, although I will of course leave final decision on players up to you. And, I have a bonus offer. For anyone who is a forever DM like me and would like a chance to be a player for a change, if you DM a game for me I'd be happy to add you to my Saturday group, so that we can both help each other out.
Ahem. So yeah, that pretty well sums up what I'm looking for. If anyone is interested in running either game, feel free to post here or message me and we can talk about it.
In reference to which game? For the already-running Friday game, we've got a Tabaxi Soulknife Rogue, a Tiefling Runeknight Fighter, a Half-Elf College of Eloquence Bard, and a Tortle Battlesmith Artificer. If you're referring to to Saturday game I'm hoping to start, that would be up to the DM. If you're asking about the possibility of joining my Saturday game that has already started, I'm open to basically anything.
I can play a really cheesy variant human barbarian if that's possible. Also, I could go for Friday possibly Saturday. Plus, I have a few questions to ask.
How long does the Friday and Saturday campaigns go?
Just to make sure I'm understanding, you want to DM the Friday game?
We use Roll20 for VTT, characters are on campaigns here on DnD Beyond, and we use Discord for voice chat during the games and to communicate between sessions. Sessions are usually 2-4 hours, depending on how much material there is to cover and how long everyone can stay up.
What do you mean by campaign base? The setting? If so, the Friday group is running Candlekeep, which is set in the Forgotten Realms. Saturday game could be set in any setting the DM wants. The already running Saturday game is a homebrew world, but the main area where the story is taking place was incorporated from Forgotten Realms.
Sorry about the confusion, I meant the setting. I can do Discord. I can run Icewind Dale if that's okay for the Friday night session. I can be a player for the Saturday night sessions too if that's possible.
Ahh... The Friday group is running Candlekeep Mysteries. I don't want to change the campaign on them, so I'm looking for someone willing to continue that one for them. As for the Saturday sessions, we'll see. If you're DMing for the Friday then my first choice would be to have you in the new Saturday group if I find a DM to run it, and if that fails then maybe add you to my in-progress Saturday group.
VTT means virtual tabletop. So the map and all the rolling is on the computer, not using physical equipment. I'm happy to show you how Roll20 works, though, if you aren't familiar.
That's okay. I can do some research on Candlekeep throughout the rest of this week and into next week. I can be a player on Saturday unless you can't find a DM. If you can't find a DM for Saturday session, I will be more than happy to do that.
Got a growing community of DND on discord. Always welcoming new players, veteran players, new/veteran DMs. And if you are just looking for a game or have questions join up!
I've never dm'd before, but I'd be willing to give Saturday nights a shot if you're willing to work with me, maybe do a few 1 shots before we settle on a long term campaign?

What races and classes do you allow? I just want to be sure about it.

What system are we doing it through?
What are the campaign bases?
I just want to be sure

I can create a character on paper pencil if that's an option. What does VTT mean? I'm unsure on what that stands for.

Sounds good
