Hello all. I'm fairly new to 5e, having played a lot of Advanced DnD 2nd ed, 3.5, and even having fun wit the dreaded fourth edition. I've split off for a few years playing Pathfinder, but now I've got a real itch to come back and GM a fun Spelljammer game and I have (I think) a pretty fun storyline set up.
I'm looking for players but before anyone jumps on board, there are a few caveats.
1)I'm a new GM to 5th ed and I won't appreciate players who want to break the game and just roflstomp beat down everyone. My system mastery isn't to the point where I can keep up with you and still make the game fun for players who haven't min-maxed the hell out of their characters. Trust me, I'm not going to throw monsters at you that you can't generally handle (unless you make some REALLY dumb decisions), In short, if you want to test out this new sick build that lets you do elevenbabillion damage with an AC of 70, then no, this isn't the game for you.
2) In relation to 1, I'm going to ban a few things. Races that are just stupid strong (Yuanti? Immunity to poison AND advantage on all magic saves? How is that balanced?) Some non-core races are fine (goblin, hobgoblin, etc.) If you want to do a non-core race talk to me and we'll work something out.
3) I would very much like to take this game to completion, which will probably be high level. As such I'm looking for serious, commited players only. People who can show up on time with regularity. If your work is constantly changing your schedule, or you have a chaotic hectic life where you have to travel a bunch, I hate to be a jerk, but maybe this isn't the game for you. I've had really bad luck with finding a group on the forums before so I would appreciate serious offers only.
4)Because I'm asking a lot, I'm going to be instigating some house rules that are going to give you some stuff for free, but I'm still nailing everything down. But yes, I realize I am being a bit of a stickler and jerk here, so I will be handing out some freebies at character creation and a different (hopefully nicer) way of doing stats so that should compensate you for the options I am cutting off.
Hey I might be interested - I don't have any problems with any of the caveats you've laid out - but it depends on timing - what day are thinking of playing and what time? (And also timezone?)

I'm working with two other friends who are interested. We are all in Pacific Time (U.S.) Currently the best time for me would be Saturday Morning-mid afternoon, though Friday nights after I get off of work (and can sleep in on Saturday) would also be fine. There are other possibilities, but those are the two that are really good for me.
I am interested. A lot of races were tweaked when the released Monsters of the Multiverse, Yaun-ti are only resistant to poison and poison damage now, not immune. They still have all the other goodies from before just lost total immunity to poison.
Can you offer a clarification about the morning - mid-afternoon time frame. I am in NY and 3 hours ahead so to speak. Depending on what time after work is for you, I might prefer a Friday time slot if it were to start at 6 or a bit after PST.
I should add that I am a D&D veteran from AD&D in the 80s up to 5e now. Unfortunately, I am one of those forever DMs and would appreciate the chance to sit of the other side of the VTT. Yes, I was assuming the campaign would be held online and not face-to-face.

Yeah, this is going to have to be an online group (I am thinking of roll 20, but I might learn a new VTT instead) For Saturday, the idea would be maybe 10AM-2PM (so 1-5PM for you) or maybe for Friday 7:30-11:30pm (so a very late 10:20-2:30am for you) I'm sorry, but my work is kinda on a strange window for Fridays and I get off anywhere between 5:15 to 5:45 and then have to walk several miles home because our local public transportation system is borked. :P
I would love to give a forever GM a chance to play though.
I would be interested in it and the Saturday timeframe is more manageable to the Friday slot but I could attend either.
I currently run two VTT campaigns right inside of AboveVTT because of the easy convenience of everything built in to it (I can live without dramatic lighting) but could use a combination of Roll20 and Discord if needed.
Hi I am very new to DND ( I have played for maybe a week ). I am fine with all of your rules and caveats. Would need more information such as time and timezone.
Hey dude! I'd love to join as i feel like i can handle it, Since i got 6 weeks off, And no homework.
Sadly, my discord got hacked (long story mate) is it fine anyways?
I'm very new, just created my character (was i supposed to orrr) like 5 minutes ago.
I'd love to join as im very new here and a teenager just wanting to see how fun D&D is. (yeah I found about D&D from reddit lol)
I'm not mad or sad if i get rejected since well i didn't have much expectations to begin with.
(Maybe reddit instead of discord?) Sorry for the long response, just interested. (Forgot to mention, Im in the UK, if you couldn't tell, Which, might just of ruined my chances but eh)
My name is Blaze Ive played Dnd for years and would love an opportunity play in your Spell jammer game!
I would consider myself a fun first player Rp'ing with my party or little fun situations with the DM. That being said I am able to read the room and when things get serious I have no problem flipping the switch and following the tone.
My Availability is wide open and I would love to complete an entire campaign.
If you would like to talk more here's my Discord.-BigBlaze#6911
I'm a new player who hasn't played a game yet (so please be patient), but I've done a lot of research and feel comfortable playing. I don't mind the caveats, and honestly, they're preferred. I'm located EST and can accommodate your Saturday time.
Feel free to message me on discord: Brotangerine#9650
Thanks for all who have shown interest, I'll be contacting a few people throughout the week (both those that have responded here on the boards and others) and will come to a decision probably within the week.
As things progress if you are looking at another I'd be interested. Wanting to get into Spelljammer in 5e. I am old guy and have played every version of D&D since the beginning but have not played 5e yet. Friday nights would be preferred.
I don’t know if it’s too late but I would absolutely love to join your campaign I can play probably completely consistently and I love D&D so so much, I started about just over a year ago and have been obsessed since. Your rules are perfect and I agree with all of them. If it’s not too late I’d love if you could contact me, my discord is Noemman#9233
I'm interested in joining and agree with your rules. i hope i am not too late to join. my discord is thezeldanaror#5373 so if you could contact me that would be great.

Unfortunately I don't think those times would work out for me. Best of luck, however. I hope the campaign goes well and thanks for your response.

Looking for an Adventure. PST so 10am-2pm is fine by me. i have a game starts at 4pm so a bit of overrun on time is not a problem.
your limitations seem quite reasonable to me.
