Location/Timezone: DM based in UK, current players based in North America. Players from anywhere welcome, but the game language is english and, as it is text-based, ability to write descriptively is preferred.
Schedule: None as such, but ideally players post at least once every couple of days. Probably about 5 mins reading and writing per day required on average.
Roles sought: 2 Players coming in at level 4, ideally a fighter or monk and a druid or bard.
Game style: playing in a homebrewed world where the populations are recovering from a calamity. The PCs thus far have encountered and dealt with a drow incursion and are about to embark on the next stages of this sandbox-style game. We've been playing since April 2021.
If you are interested, hit me with a character concept. Preference given to standard races, but a great hook could persuade me otherwise.
Hey. I've never done a text-based game before. Would it be alright if I join and see how it goes for a few days and then decide if I wanna stay? Also is it on discord or something else?
This is very interesting. Sounds like my type of game. I am a newbie, but I've read through the player's handbook and have a pretty good grasp on characters and all. I have a Barbarian Goliath, a Fighter Dwarf, or a Druid Tiefling that sound like they might work in your campaign.
We're really looking for someone who is prepared to commit in the first instance. The answer to your question was included in the post, as is what you need to do if you'd like to progress.
Thanks for your interest - unfortunately noble houses are a bit thin on the ground in our setting, so that concept probably won't work. Feel free to hit me with something else if you still fancy it, though.
I am interested in this campaign. Its been a little while since I've done pbp but I love it, especially the descriptions (not "I flurry of blows and rolled a 23 and 19, does it hit?" but "I leap into the air with grim silence, keeping my gaze locked on the necromancer in front of me. I know if I go down now my friends behind me will suffer the curse of his evil ways. But like my grandmaster always said, the best AC is a good attack roll. I lash out with both feet in a flurry of blows and roll a 23 and 19 to hit.")
If you couldn't tell, I'm a monk fanboi. I could be persuaded to play fighter or the caster that you mentioned above if the fighter/monk position is filled, or if it works better with the rest of the party, but I prefer monk. My disco is lefty#4985.
As far as character concept goes, I'd like to make it kinda themed to the campaign. Has the sun been darkened? I'll go shadow monk. A plague ravages the landscape? Mercy. Etc etc etc. But before I nail anything down I'd like feedback from you on theme, and what rulebooks to use. TCoE (mainly for customized origin)? The dragon one that I forgot the name of? I'm cool with standard races, but I use the wiki for character creation and I lose track of what's phb and what's extra stuff. But I'm assuming since you said fighter or monk you need a front line semi-tank type.
Regardless of what rulebooks we can use, this campaign looks awesome and I can't wait to hear your reply. Thanks!
Hey I'm interested, been wanting to play more dnd but dont have the time for full 3 hour sessions weekly so this sounds good for me. Ive played a few campaigns in the past and was part of a text based rp group that fizzled out and I enjoyed both ways to play.
I have a couple different characters that I could play and I can easily adapt them to fit any setting. I have a preference for casters but I don't mind switching it up.
I'd LOVE to join a PbP on Discord, even if you're currently full I'd be willing to join at a later date if spots open up. I've only been playing DnD for about a year, but I've been playing text-based RP since second edition Vampire the Masquerade. As for characters, I'd be interested in playing a Druid. Homeworld setting could change things, but I've made a small tribe of Lizardfolk who dwell at the Heart of the swamp, which is the literal heart of a primordial beast that's been dying for time untold but has recently begun to stir, heralding dark portents that send some members of the tribe out into the world looking for answers. But that's just an option, I'm happy to custom tailor something.

I really like text games and I really like sandbox dnd. I want to play a lvl 4 human Cavalier riding a horse from a noble house.

Hello, I’m interested in joining if there’s still room.
character wise, I’d go with a half-elf druid circle of wildfire. Or a hill dwarf bard (college of valour)

Hey there,
Thanks for responding, but we have a few potentials in the pipe now. I'll get back in touch if any don't work out.
Sweet, thanks for replying!
