Old and gray. Face to face gaming is my preference.
Experienced player; just recently getting back to the game after a long time off. Currently armed only with a few pencils and a pad of paper; don't even have dice at this time. Have recently played a couple of campaigns, and want to get a feel for how often I might get the chance to play, before throwing down a bunch of money again. After spending over 20 years away from RP gaming, I'm a bit rusty with the rules, but a quick study.
I'm located in Des Moines, Washington, USA. Adjacent to Federal Way.
My schedule is somewhat flexible. Evenings are best, and would most like to sit at a table that meets on a regular schedule (Wouldn't we all?). A regular schedule just makes it easier for me to fit the game in with all my other commitments.
Looking to be a player. I am an accomplished DM, and world builder, but woefully out of practice, and not currently equipped to take on that job.
My gaming style is casual role play. I prefer living the adventure over gathering points and goodies, but don't take myself or the campaign too seriously. I have a low tolerance for those who enjoy stirring up drama among the players at the table; angry outbursts and drawn-out, last-word arguments just drag the game down.
I - like you - am not a "spring chicken", so to speak. I started playing AD&D in the late 70's early 80's - then life got in the way and now many years later I am picking it back up (and have come to realize the 5e rules are much better - despite my nostalgic urges toward my old 1e books, which I still have! ;-) )
After a couple years of COVID "zoom meetings" , I have very little interest in anything "online" and also have a strong preference for face to face gaming.
I recently moved to the Tacoma, Washington and I am looking to meet fellow gamers who just want to have fun (I also have a low tolerance for people who like to bring "outside" issues into a game to emphasize their personal agenda - real life is annoying enough - we play fantasy games to get away from all that "noise" ;-) )
I don't have Discord setup yet (I just learned about it) - but maybe you can reply to this post and then we can manage some kind of DM?
As a rule, I don't spend time on discord. We can exchange email addresses in private, then you and I can arrange to meet and chat over lunch. As it turns out, I'm preparing to leave for a table game. Can't invite you along on such short notice; ongoing campaign, but I'll let them know that another nearby is interested.
Will get back to you later, likely not 'till tomorrow.
Perfect - no hurry in my case - just reaching out to find some like minded folks - sounds like you might be of a similar perspective.
Enjoy your upcoming game sessions, and yes, I agree meeting for lunch or something sounds like a good idea when convenient.
And, yes, if we don't have to use "discord" to communicate, that is preferred also for me - I am a bit "old school", I actually still like email - LOL!
I for one appreciate the thought. Have not yet once done an online game. If I had the hardware to do Zoom or the like, then I might consider it. I'll look into buying the required stuff for my PC. Don't know how discord voice/video works, and have no interest in RPing by text message or other typed correspondence. I currently have zero discord accounts.
I prefer live games because I just like sitting around a table; sharing the game on a more personal level.
Lunch meeting with reppworld this Friday afternoon; first meeting. I'll talk to them about an online game and get back to you. Online gaming seems to be more the standard these days. We're both on Pacific Time, so scheduling might be a bit problematic.
Thank you for reaching out - from my side, I am sorry to say I do not like online gaming in any form - I have a strong preference for Face-to-Face at a table rolling real dice.
Still here and still looking. I get together with some good folks at one table almost once a month, but wouldn't mind more frequent play. Still prefer face to face, for the social aspect of the game. Have not ever played online.
Hi, other than multitude of hours spent watching campaigns I have no dnd experience. I really wanna find a group and I'm not to far from you. I work grave yard so any day between 2-7pm would work or any time mon-tuesday. I'm in federal way so if you have an opening please let me know.
Cool, thanks for contacting me. The host has told me that his table is full, 6 plus dm. Once I gain some more recent experience, books, etc., I'll keep you in mind for my table. Sorry, but that may take a while yet.

I'm back. Turns out that the table dynamics within the new group made for difficult, less than enjoyable role playing, so the search begins again. I really don't want to have to buckle down and become the DM again; I'm really hoping to just be a player for a while. I have so seldom had that opportunity.

I guess that's it. Wanna take a chance on me?

Private message sent.
Would you older guys be interested in a online game with a virtual table top? I use fantasy grounds, so you wouldn’t need any dice or books.
let me know! I also use discord for voice/ video.

I wish you the best of luck on your campaign.
That’s understandable! Good luck with your search as well, nothing like playing face to face
