Hi! I'm Zach, the DM for the advertised adventure. My spin on Baldur's Gate: Descent Into Avernus will start players off just outside Elturel as disaster strikes, paving the way for the grand adventure to come.
New players are very welcome, as are longtime veterans and players of any experience level in between. Whether it's your first game or your hundredth, you'll be welcome at my (virtual) table.
Since this is an online game, you'll need access to Roll20 in addition to D&D Beyond. Accounts for Roll20 are free. You'll also need an account for Discord (also free) as we use that to keep in touch between session, share updates, plan, goof off, etc. A good mic is required and a webcam is an encouraged bonus. We'll play every other Friday, beginning at 7 PM CST and going to about 10 or 11 PM generally, though we may occasionally have a session that goes a little longer depending on what's happening.
I'm a pretty laid back DM. I like serious roleplay and encourage interparty play if everyone is cool with it. I'll lean into the direction and overall vibe of my players. My emphasis is largely on a welcoming, safe atmosphere for everyone to have fun in. I've been a DM for a little over 20 years now, and I'm excited to keep the dice rolling. Hopefully with you! The city has inexplicably vanished, leaving a smoking crater in its wake. You are now one of many hundreds of refugees, left with burning questions: what happened to your home? And what becomes of you now?
A harrowing journey awaits as your group embarks to discover the dark truths behind Elturel's disappearance. Your quest will take you from the blood-drenched streets of Baldur's Gate to the fiery battlefields of Avernus and, if you are lucky, brave, and clever enough, perhaps even back home. But can you ever really go back? This Baldur's Gate: Descent Into Avernus campaign makes use of expanded material and a different opening, placing your party at ground zero for a tragedy and mystery that kickstarts the remainder of the adventure. Your party will start at level 1 and is planned to finish with your PCs at level 14.
