Game: D&D 5e Group type: Online. We use Discord for VC and Roll20 for the game. Experience: This is the 5th Campaign I'm running Location/Timezone: America, EST. Schedule: Weekly, Fridays at 7pm est. Roles sought: 1 Player (I have 4 already) Must be 21 yo or older (this is a group of adults and I'd like to keep it that way) and I want every player to play a different race/class from each other, right now there's a Halfling Fighter, a Human Monk, a Wood Elf Sorcerer, and a Leonin Warlock. The only other classes I'm restricting are Artificer and Blood Hunter. Anything homebrew needs to be approved by me, and any races that are UA or from setting specific books I'm not allowing. Game style: This is a homebrew world I created, I have a lot of lore for you to read through before you make your character. It's open world, sandbox style, which means the players can go and do whatever they want, though I will throw plot hooks at you and there is an overarching story that will happen, but I like to have the players participate in telling that story. The story is told by everyone collectively, and whatever backstory you write will probably have an impact on the story at some point as well, so the longer your backstory, the better. We have played a few sessions together already, so you will be joining as a level 2 character.
If you're interested in joining, you can fill out the following template (if you don't wish to do so publicly you can direct message it to me) and if I like what I see then I will message you directly with my discord name so that we can schedule a vc interview.
Name: Age: Pronouns: Timezone: Experience with roleplaying/D&D: What race/class would you be interested in playing?: What's your favorite thing about DnD?: What's your least favorite thing about DnD? Anything else you'd like to share?:
Name: Hannah Age: 24 Pronouns: She/Her Timezone: Pacific Experience with roleplaying/D&D: I played a few campaigns with my uncle when I was in elementary school and I believe we used 3.5e. I haven't played in probably 10 years but I listen to a few different 5e actual play podcasts so I have some grasp on the rules but I would probably have some questions in the beginning. What race/class would you be interested in playing?: Half-elf rouge with 1 level of warlock (I built the character background first and figured out the class after but if my idea doesn't work I would be okay with it) What's your favorite thing about DnD?: I like the idea of having different problems to deal with than we face in our regular world and having interesting tools to try and solve them. What's your least favorite thing about DnD?: The time between places you want to be. If we are in a town and told to go somewhere else I don't love spending time trying to get there, I feel like the more interesting stories happen at the destination and less during the travel. Anything else you'd like to share?:
Name: Scooter Age: 26 Pronouns: they/them Timezone: EST Experience with roleplaying/D&D: I've been joining and losing 5e games for the past two-ish years (boy is it hard to get a DM that doesn't get burnout). Before that I was playing a lot of 3.5 with my friends on and off for a combined two more I'd say. What race/class would you be interested in playing?: Of the races/classes left I'd say my tabaxi ranger would fit best. What's your favorite thing about DnD?: I really love the organic relationships that develop between all of the characters, both PCs and NPCs. Watching as people grow closer or get into conflicts is fascinating to me and seeing bonds be built and tested is a lot of fun. What's your least favorite thing about DnD? I'm going to say combat that overstays its welcome. As I mentioned, RP is my favorite part of DnD. Combat can be really fun, but once we're halfway through and the fight is being held up by one person trying to pick a spell, it's hard not to be exasperated. Anything else you'd like to share?:
Name: Argo Age: 25 Pronouns: she/her Timezone: Central Experience with roleplaying/D&D: about a year of DMing a mostly homebrew game and RPing all the NPC's and improving with 4-6 players What race/class would you be interested in playing?: Human Warlock. I have a backstory written that could work as a standalone backstory or could be sprinkled into the campaign What's your favorite thing about DnD?: The ability to explore a fantasy world and be whoever you want. Its great escapism and I love the role play possibilities What's your least favorite thing about DnD? when combat drags on or when things get repetitive. I think the game is at its best in a fast paced and changing environment Anything else you'd like to share?:
Favorite thing about DND: the role play, to be something you are not like a drunk brewmaster Dwarven Priest who may just have sold his sole in some pact with an Undead thing.
Least favorite thing: looking for people to play
something I would like to share: Well I am a musician who hopes to be writing 4-6 song album based off of a character I make and his fellow PC on their adventures
Hey, Steve! Thanks for posting - curious to learn more and deets below!
Name: Berns Age: 41 Pronouns: he/him Timezone: PST Experience with roleplaying/D&D: Wrapping up an online 2 year Frostmaiden campaign now after which our group DM will be taking a break; previously played a 5e home-brew via Roll20 / Discord, and some 2.5ed way back in the day. What race/class would you be interested in playing?: Astral Elf Hexblade 'Lock (pure or multi class w/Bard), or other fun, charismatic gish. Open to switching race to a Half-Drow or Variant Human, but I really do like the flavor of a fish-out-of-water star Elf from the Astral Plane, who lives to learn, see new things and travel the planes, serving the cosmic balance as opposed to going full emo Raven Queen. My Frostmaiden character is an Eldritch Knight with 3 levels of Swashbuckler Rogue, which turned out to be very fun mechanically, but didn't really hit his full stride until Level 7ish. What's your favorite thing about DnD?: Roleplay! The dice have a love-hate relationship with me, but I love the RP, doing the voices, getting in character, etc. I do like a good round of the dice gods smiling and going nova on an encounter, or turning a fail into some ridiculous tongue-in-cheek shenanigan. Both serious and humorous-toned campaigns are appreciated! What's your least favorite thing about DnD? Not having my current group closer! We've been playing online across 3 different time zones for the past 2+ years. We'll likely be taking a break for at least a few weeks, and aren't playing 8 or so weeks between next week and the end of the year, so there's room in the heart and schedule for a new game! Anything else you'd like to share?: It all started more than 20 years ago when...(I kid, I kid!). Fridays 4 PM PST sounds doable, just need to shuffle my dog's walks and wrapping up the week around a bit. Feel free to PM if you have any questions for me!
Name: Jordan Age: 43 Pronouns: He/Him Timezone: CST Experience with roleplaying/D&D: 30 years TTRPG, 18 months online What race/class would you be interested in playing?: Swiftstride Circle of Vermin (Homebrew) Druid, Thrikreen Beastmaster that rides a Steeder What's your favorite thing about DnD?: It still has my attention after all these years, so I would say endless possibility. What's your least favorite thing about DnD? The new art for some of the races. Anything else you'd like to share?: I'm a history adjunct at a local college so I'm big on story/lore.
