Timezone: 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm (UTC -4)
Schedule: Bi-weekly Preferred to Intermittent when necessary - Obviously scheduling is the highest CR monster not in the monster manual but the goal is to be bi-weekly. - The next meetings would be Oct. 17th
Roles Sought: Players; this campaign had 4 players but will be losing one to scheduling. I am willing to DM for up to 7 players
Level: 5th
Game Setting: The Lands Between from Elden Ring by FromSoftware
Game Style I am someone that likes to have fun, but takes their fun seriously. I am an avid Critical Role and Dimension20 fan/viewer, and I strive to run a game with a similar style and feel but with my own twist on it. I place a great emphasis on role-playing and storytelling and I center the story around the players, their characters, and the plot threads they show the most interest in as well as the stories they are trying to tell. I also take a lot of inspiration from A Song of Ice and Fire and The Witcher and ground fantastical stories with relatable complex interpersonal conflicts. I am endeavoring to be a professional entertainer as a "side-gig" and I think folks with similar creative tendencies will feel right at home.
I will warn you right now, my games are ******* HARD. The campaign being set in Elden Ring should be the first clue but essentially, I don't believe initiative should be rolled unless there is a genuine chance of you dying. You will need to work together, play smart, and squeeze every last drop out of your character sheet to survive. I am not TRYING to kill you, the monsters are trying to LIVE. And while you are heroic and certainly the main characters, the world isn't full of NPCs, it's full of people. People with their own flaws and own ambitions who won't have time for people being chaotic stupid. Nor will a "useless ball of flavor" last long.
For people who have never played Elden Ring before, perfect, you can have the same sense of discovery and exploration as players do when first playing the game. For people who have played Elden Ring, you know how they talk a lot about all these wars and crazy shit that happened in the distant past and you're rolling up AFTER all of that has happened? Well this campaign is set DURING all of that crazy shit and you get to live through it. For example, currently the War Against the Giants has JUST started, and the party is deciding where their allegiances lie. And as a small test to see if applicants have actually read this, the only applicants that will be considered are people who post "malenia did nothing wrong" at the end of their post.
That being said, I do not go out of my way to run a "high-lethality" game. Not all enemies will do things like double tapping down PCs for example. Although some might in specific circumstances. Expect it to be challenging but not unfair. There is certainly an amount of classic FromSoftware cheek that can be expected, but I don't have anything that's an insta-death.
Finally, depending on a variety of factors, I miiight make it pay-2-play in future. But that would be entirely dependent on the volume of player interest and whether or not I would need to make it a weekly game or have more than one game. For now, assume it is free-2-play.
I'm a newbie, but I love fantasy stories of all natures, and a challenge is not a bad thing either. Atm, Mondays are free for me. Not played Elden ring, so dunno if I can "agree" that malenia did nothing wrong.
