Hello potential players!
I would like to run a long-term campaign in a home-brewed setting, focusing mostly on the narrative, exploration of the world, and roleplay amongst the group or with NPC's, with combat and puzzles along the way. The setting is almost entirely focused on the prime material plane, and primarily centers humans, as well as (half)elves, halflings and dwarves. My games tend to have political factions, but it depends on the party whether they become part of the plotline or stay in the background.
The tone is grounded, with room for dramic moments, potentially with some dark themes here and there, but not grim by any means. You are welcome to mention (privately or for the group) any topics you would prefer to avoid before and during the game. While comedic moments come up in any campaign, this is not the intended tone for this one.
Player-character death is a possibility, although it will likely be rare if the players are careful. Revival is possible, but difficult and not without consequences.
While rules are important to give the narrative weight and keep a structure, the logic of the world and the rule of cool are more important in my DM'ing style
Parts of the setting will be created based on player-character backstory, as will plothooks. I prefer players who are interested in their backstories and those of the other players, and are open to collaborating with me on creating this backstory. I also tend to create custom subclasses in collaboration with my players, based on what things the characters learn along their journey/their story or goals. I also keep track of in-game time using a fantasy calendar to give weight to the time spent travelling and adventuring, which means that seasons change and your characters may celebrate their birthdays (If they know and care about their birthdays, of course.)
The campaign will likely start with the party being hired for the same job: hunting a creature that attacked a transporting caravan and absconded with a secret package the party must retrieve but may not open under any circumstance. On the trail they will get to know eachother, and may or may not find things connected to their own past or goals.
If this sounds cool to you, you are motivated to create a story with me and some fellow players, and are free on Thursday evenings (or otherwise have questions), feel free to leave a message here or befriend me on Discord! (Aurenzo#5176)
Hello, this definitely sounds like something I might be down with. I am in the US. mountain standard time. What time on Thursdays would you be looking to start? I my self run a restaurant and have set days off which are Thursday Friday. I definitely have a homebrew character that has homebrew spells. I splashed three character classes together and have some crazy class abilities. I can send you some more information on him if need be. Let me know if you are interested in having me join.
I'm in the US but I'm pretty flexible schedule I'm looking to join if that's okay I need to know what time and if there's age restrictions I already sent friend request to you my discord is Breiden1#8958
