Character backstory is important and will come up in game.
All characters have died and are trapped in a demiplane within the shadowfell. Characters will be able to leave to material plane for bouts of time and should have bonds or motivations back in the material plane.
Players need to be motivated to break free of this demiplane either to return to the material plane or to free their soul to finally rest. The demiplane is less than an ideal place to be eternally trapped.
